WOMEN'S BASKETBALL NOTEBOOK
Vermont (12-9, 6-4) returns home to Patrick Gym hosting UMass Lowell (6-9, 3-3) in America East play at 2 p.m. Saturday ESPN3. Fans can also listen live with Cooper Boardman on the call on AM 620 WVMT. The Catamounts will be celebrating National Girls and Women in Sports Day on Saturday. It is also the Catamounts annual Spread Respect game.

CATAMOUNTS CELEBRATE NATIONAL GIRLS & WOMEN IN SPORTS DAY
UVM will celebrate National Girls and Women in Sports Day presented by Vermont Mutual Saturday, girls from the local community with an interest in sports and being involved in this celebration will have the opportunity to become members of the UVM Athletic Staff for the day. Girls in grades 4-8 can apply to a wide variety of positions including: Public Address Announcer, Marketing Assistant, Ticket Staff, and many more!

THREE STARTERS IN DOUBLE FIGURES
Three of Vermont's four starters who have started every game this season –
Emma Utterback (12.1 PPG),
Josie Larkins (11.6 PPG) and
Anna Olson (11.4 PPG) are leading the Catamounts all scoring in double figures. All three of them play an average of 29.2 minutes or more per game.
LARKINS HAVING A CAREER-YEAR FROM DOWNTOWN
Larkins is second on the team in scoring this season with 11.6 points per game. She is tied for 18th in the NCAA with 55 made three-pointers this season. She is shooting 39.9 percent from downtown which is 51st in the country. She has made 215 career three-pointers which ranks second all-time at UVM. In games where Larkins hits three or more three-pointers in a game UVM is 6-2 this season.
ALL STARTS ON THE DEFENSIVE END
UVM is second in America East and 17th in the NCAA on the defensive end this season giving up 54.6 points per game. In the Catamounts 12 wins this year they've given up just 46.9 points per game. Vermont is also second in America East averaging 3.7 blocked shots per game. UVM forward
Anna Olson is second in the league averaging 1.3 blocks per game.
SCOUTING UMASS LOWELL
The River Hawks have played just two games over the last two weeks, dropping both in contests with Maine and UAlbany. This Wednesday the Black Bears defeated UML 58-36 outscoring the River Hawks 38-15 in the second half. UMass Lowell is 3-3 in league play but hasn't won a league contest by more than five points.
Junior forward Denise Solis leads the team in scoring with 9.8 points per game. She is also the River Hawks leading rebounder. She leads the conference in shooting percentage making 56.6% of her field goals.
SERIES HISTORY
Vermont and UMass Lowell have only met 16 times in their history, the River Hawks hold the series edge at 9-7. The home team has won seven of the last nine games between the two teams.
