SCOUTING THE RED FOXES
The Red Foxes are winless at home so far this season, most recently losing to Binghamton 15-6 on Saturday (Mar. 5). Marist was picked to finish sixth in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Preseason Poll after posting a 3-5 (2-4 MAAC) record during their shortened season a year ago. The Red Foxes suffered a 14-13 loss to Fairfield in a closely-fought MAAC Quarterfinal game last season. Junior attack Kerri Gutenberger was named to the preseason All-MAAC team after scoring 17 goals in just eight games in 2021. Gutenberger has continued her high level of scoring with 16 goals through their first four games this season, while shooting an impressive 55.2%.

INSIDE THE SERIES
The Catamounts match up with the Red Foxes for the 13th time on Wednesday with the series currently tied at 6-6. Vermont has lost the last five meetings against Marist, dating back to the 2015 season. The teams last faced each other in 2019 when the Red Foxes defeated the Cats 15-14 in overtime at Virtue Field.

CARRERA NAMED DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Vermont junior
Carolyn Carrera was named America East Defensive Player of the Week for the second time this season on Monday afternoon. Carrera tallied six ground balls and a career-high six turnovers in UVM's 13-10 win at Siena on Saturday (Mar. 5). The Harriman, N.Y. native has tallied a league-high 13 caused turnovers and 19 ground balls through five games this season.

Riley Halloran, Meaghan O'Connor, and
McKenzie Ballard each registered hat tricks in Vermont's road win against Siena. Halloran and O'Connor tallied a game-high four points in the victory. The trio joins
Ava Vasile,
Maris Large, and
Maddie Erskine as Catamounts to post hat tricks this season.
