STONY BROOK, N.Y. – Trailing at halftime the Vermont men's lacrosse team outscored Stony Brook 14-3 in the second half earning its seventh straight win in a 19-10 decision from LaValle Stadium. With the win Vermont earned its first outright America East Regular Season title.
With the win Vermont improves to 9-6 and 6-0 in league play while the Seawolves fall to 9-5 and 4-2 in conference action.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Seawolves jumped out to a 4-0 lead 5:34 into the first quarter with goals from four different scorers. Liam Limoges and Thomas McConvey answered back for the Catamounts to make it 4-2 with 5:16 left in the opening frame.
- Stony Brook scored twice in the final 2:03 of the frame to take a four-goal lead into the second quarter.
- McConvey scored the first three goals of the second quarter cutting the Seawolves lead to one with 8:29 to play in the half. McConvey's fourth goal of the afternoon was also his 40th of the season.
- Stony Brook scored its lone goal of the second quarter with 2:04 left in the half and took a 7-5 lead into the break.
- The Catamounts came storming out of the gates in the third quarter scoring five goals in 5:16 of action to claim a 10-7 lead. Liam Limoges and McConvey added two goals while Nick Alviti scored the other. The final three goals of the run came in just 68 seconds.
- Vermont added three more goals in 1:22 of game action to claim a 14-9 lead with 3:46 to go in the third quarter.
- Griffin Fenech added another goal for Vermont with 44 seconds left in the third. UVM outscored the Seawolves 10-2 in the frame.
- Vermont finished the job outscoring their hosts 4-1 in the final frame to seal their third straight win over the Seawolves.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Tommy Burke won 11 of the 12 faceoffs in the critical third quarter this afternoon.
- In America East action this season Vermont outscored its opponents 99-41.
- UVM's six conference wins are the second most in program history. Last season during a COVID schedule with additional league games UVM was 7-2.
- Liam Limoges fourth goal of the third quarter marked his 100th career goal.
- Thomas McConvey's seven goals this afternoon tied the program record for second all-time in a single game.
- David Closterman's six assists matched the eighth most by a Catamount in a single game.

The Catamounts will host the America East Tournament next week from Virtue Field for the first time in program history. The semifinals are set for Thursday, May 5. At 4 p.m. UMBC and Binghamton will matchup and then at 7 p.m. the top-seeded Catamounts will face the four-seed UAlbany in a rematch of the 2021 America East title game.
