Six Inducted Saturday Night at the 52nd UVM Athletic Hall of Fame Dinner

BURLINGTON, Vt.  – The University of Vermont Athletic Hall of Fame officially inducted six new members in the Class of 2020 on Saturday night at the Davis Center. This year's inductees at the 52nd dinner were Marqus Blakely '10 (basketball), Colleen Clark McFetridge '10 (swimming & diving), May Kotsopoulos '10 (basketball), Courtnay Pilypaitis '10 (basketball), Michael Trimboli '09 (basketball) and Herb Brown '57 (special inductee).

Marqus Blakely '10 | Video Presentation
 
Marqus was a two-time America East Player of the Year as a sophomore and junior and three-time America East Defensive Player of the Year as a sophomore, junior, and senior.
 
He was named America East Championship Most Outstanding Player as a senior leading the Catamounts to the 2010 NCAA Tournament.
 
He graduated with the second-most steals (226), third-most field goals (673), third-best field goal percentage (.571), third-most rebounds (1,044), and the fifth-leading scorer in school history with 1,875 career points. He scored 607 points as a senior, the sixth-highest single-season total in program history.
 
He led the team in scoring as a junior and senior, and was the three-time team leader in rebounding.
 
Following his career at UVM, he has enjoyed a 10-year professional career most notably in the NBA G League and overseas in Japan and South Korea. He was signed by the Houston Rockets in April of 2011 and suited up for the final game of the regular season. 
 
Marqus Blakely and his fiancée Lindsey Richards live in West Hills, California with their 6-year old twins and 11-month old son.  Marqus works in television marketing at CoxReps, part of the Cox Media Group.
 
Colleen Clark McFetridge '10 | Video Presentation
Colleen holds the school record in the 200-yard and 500-yard freestyle, plus the 800-yard freestyle relay. She was the 2010 recipient of the David Alexander Award - given to the America East (AE) senior who accumulated the most total points at the conference championship meet over four years 
 
She was also the AE champion in the 200-yard freestyle in 2008 & 2009. As a junior, she set the conference record that stood for 8 years. 
 
She was also the AE champion in the 500-yard freestyle as a junior and set a conference record that stood for seven years.
 
In addition, she set the ECAC record in the 800-yard freestyle relay in 2008 & the AE record in 2009.
 
After graduating from UVM with a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education, Colleen moved to Charlotte, NC, where she taught 3rd and 4th grade. In 2017, she earned her Master of Education Degree in Literacy Curriculum and Instruction from Winthrop University. She graduated with honors as a proud Kappa Delta Pi member. 
 
Colleen married Mason McFetridge shortly after & they moved to New Jersey. They live just outside of Philadelphia, with their golden retriever Iggy. Colleen currently teaches English Language Arts to upper elementary students and is an educational leader in her district; she mentors new teachers, writes curriculum and assessments, and partakes in many district and state academic committees. Throughout the years, Colleen has continued to coach swimming and is the assistant swim coach for her district's high school swim team. She spends her summers at the beach teaching her nieces & nephews how to swim.
 
May Kotsopoulos '10 | Video Presentation
 
May closed out her career ranked among the top-5 all-time leaders at UVM in six categories: games played (2nd-129), minutes played (2nd- 4,316), steals (3rd-243), three-point field goals (3rd-187), scoring (5th-1,722), and free throws (5th- 385). She led America East as a senior with 17.1 PPG.
 
She was an Academic All-American as a senior, three-time America East Scholar-Athlete and two-time ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District 1 First Team.
 
She was named America East Defensive Player of the Year as a sophomore. She was selected America East Fan's Choice Player of the Year as a senior and was a two-year team captain (2008-09, 09-10) and Vermont's female Wasson Athletic Prize recipient at the 2010 Rally Awards.
 
She helped guide the Catamounts to back-to-back America East Championships and NCAA Tournament berths as a junior & senior.
 
After graduation, she was invited to training camp by the WNBA's Connecticut Sun & later played two seasons in Greece's top division. She was named Two-time Eurobasket.com All-Greek Team (Greek 1A League; 2010-11, 11-12) and Eurobasket.com Greek League Newcomer of the Year (Greek 1A League; 2011).
 
May Kotsopoulos is a Regional Vice President at Salesforce, a global software company. Based in Toronto, she credits much of her professional success from the learnings she had as a student-athlete at UVM.
 
Courtnay Pilypaitis '10 | Video Presentation
Pilypaitis is the all-time leader in career assists (636), three-pointers made (260), and games played (131) at UVM. She recorded the second-most steals (279) and made the second-most free throws (473) in program history.
 
She stands third on the career scoring list (1,993 points) and rebounds (905). She has the most career triple-doubles (3) in school history and ranks fourth in program history with 27 career double-doubles. She matched the school's single-game record with 40 points at Boston U in 2008.
 
She was named America East Player of the Year as a sophomore and Rookie of the Year in 2007. She was a three-time member of the America East All-Conference First Team and earned Third Team All-Conference honors as a first year. 
 
She helped guide the Catamounts to back-to-back America East Championships and NCAA Tournament berths as a junior and senior. Her senior year the Catamounts upset Wisconsin in the first round of the NCAA Tournament to pick up the program's first-ever NCAA Tournament win.
 
After UVM, she played professionally for two years in Lithuania and won back-to-back Lithuanian Cups and BWBL Championships. She also played over 100 games as a member of the senior Canadian National Women's Basketball team.
 
Courtnay currently lives in Fresno, California and is working as an assistant women's basketball coach at Fresno State.
 
Michael Trimboli '09 | Video Presentation
One of four Catamounts to score over 2,000 career points, he is currently fourth on the all-time scoring list. He graduated as the program's all-time leader with 624 assists. 
 
He is the all-time leader in minutes played in program history with 4,471. He ranks in the top-10 in 10 categories at UVM.
 
He led the team in assists each season and was the leading scorer in each of his first three seasons. He was selected to the America East All-Conference First Team as a sophomore and senior, and Second Team as a first year and junior.
 
He earned NABC All-District honors as a sophomore and USBWA All-District honors as a senior. He was voted America East Rookie of the Year and CollegeInsider.com Freshman All-American in 2006.
 
He is the second player in school history to serve three years as a team captain and after UVM, he played professionally in Poland and Slovakia.
 
Mike and his wife Lisa currently reside in Essex Junction, Vermont with their daughter Gianna and soon to be baby T.  Mike has been a part of operations and leadership at a national insure tech company, started by one of his former UVM college friends.  He loves spending time with his family and friends.  For those of you that know him, he is a huge people person. 
  
Herb Brown '57 | Video Presentation
As a senior at UVM Herb was a part of the 1956-57 men's basketball team that won 15 games the second most in school history at that point. As a sophomore, the Catamounts posted a 4-1 Yankee Conference record and second-place finish, tied for their highest ever finish in the Yankee Conference standings.
 
He served as a professional basketball coach from 1960-2015 in college, the NBA, CBA, WBA, Spain, Puerto Rico, South America, Asia and the Middle East. He was the Head Coach of the Detroit Pistons from 1975-78 as the Pistons made back-to-back playoff appearances.
 
In his career, he was an assistant coach in the NBA with the Portland TraiI Blazers, Houston Rockets, Indiana Pacers, Phoenix Suns, Atlanta Hawks, Philadelphia 76ers, Detroit Pistons and Charlotte Bobcats. He earned three NBA Championship rings, two as a scout with the Chicago Bulls in 1992 and 1993 and the third in 2004 as an assistant coach with the Pistons.
 
Brown is an inductee of five Hall of Fames including the U.S. Jewish Sports Hall of Fame, Stony Brook Athletics Hall of Fame, Long Beach High School Wall of Fame, Northern California Jewish Hall of Fame and the Michigan Jewish Hall of Fame.
 
Brown is a recipient of the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) International Basketball Achievement Award for his work in Puerto Rico, Mexico, Brazil, Uruguay, Costa Rica, South Africa, China, Lithuania, Japan, Spain, Jordan and Israel.
 
He won gold medals with Team USA at the 2001 Maccabi Games and the 2013 FIBA Asia Championships with Japan. He also earned bronze medals at the 1997 and 2005 Maccabi Games.
 
Herb and his wife Sherri currently reside in Davidson, NC & Neskowin, Ore. Together they have four children & 14 grandchildren. Herb is retired and devotes his time to basketball volunteering and consulting.
