MEN'S HOCKEY NOTEBOOK
The Catamounts will host AIC at 7 p.m. on Saturday night from Gutterson Fieldhouse in their non-conference finale. The first 500 fans in attendance will receive replica Vermont jerseys courtesy of M&T Bank. Saturday's contest will air live on ESPN+ with Rob Ryan on the call. The voice of the Catamounts, Adam LaFleur, will broadcast the action from the Handy Toyota Broadcast Booth on WVMT (FM 96.3 / AM 620) and the Varsity Network App.

CAPTAIN LEADING THE WAY
Senior forward and Catamounts captain
Jacques Bouquot is Vermont's leading scorer this season with five goals and eight assists for 13 points this year. In the last nine games, he has five goals and three assists.
POWER PLAY CLICKING IN CATAMOUNT COUNTRY
Overall the Catamounts power play has converted on 12.3% of its opportunities this season. But in its last eight games Vermont is 8-for-34 on the power play good for 23.5%.
Jacques Bouquot, Vermont's leading scorer, has four power play goals for Vermont over its last nine games. Vermont is undefeated this season when scoring two or more goals on the power play this season.
CATAMOUNTS ARE FAST STARTERS
Vermont's best period this season has been the opening 20. The Catamounts are outscoring its opponents 18-7 in the first period. UVM has scored first in 12 of their games this season. In the first period UVM is outshooting its opponents 199-178, while in the other two periods it is 425-338 in favor of their opponents.
SCOUTING AIC
The Yellow Jackets are 10-9-5 this season. AIC is 8-5-2 in league play and sits in third place in Atlantic Hockey. AIC is 0-2-1 this season against Hockey East clubs. On October 8, they tied UMass 2-2 at home, on November 26 they fell 5-1 at Maine and on January 7 in their last action they hosted and lost to UMass Lowell 4-2.
Junior forward Jordan Biro leads the team this season with 24 points. He has nine goals and 15 assists for 24 points. He has three goals and three assists since December 1. Senior forward Blake Bennett leads the team in scoring with 13 goals. He had a goal and an assist in AIC's last contest against UMass Lowell. AIC has the 11th best power play in the country converting 24.5% of the time.
Senior goaltender Jarrett Fiske was named to the 2022-23 Mike Richter Award watch list on Thursday. He currently has a 6-5-4 record with a 2.55 goals against average, .913 save percentage, and one shutout. He has been named Atlantic Hockey goaltender of the week three times this season.
SERIES HISTORY
Saturday's contest will be just the seventh matchup between these two teams and the first since 1975. The teams have split the previous six meetings with each team winning three. At home Vermont is 2-1-0 against the Yellow Jackets. The Catamounts won the last meeting at the Gut 10-2 on February 12, 1974.
WIEDLER TIME AT AIC
An assistant coach from 2015-2018 at AIC, Vermont assistant coach
Stephen Wiedler earned the title of Associate Head Coach in his final year with the Yellow Jackets (2019-2020). As the recruiting coordinator at AIC, Wiedler helped build the 2018-19 and 2019-20 AIC teams that won back-to-back Atlantic Hockey Conference (AHC) regular season championships. During his tenure at AIC recruiting highlights included AIC's first Division I All-American, the 2020 Derek Hines Unsung Hero Award Winner, the 2020 AHC Goaltending Champion, the 2019 Atlantic Hockey Tournament Most Outstanding Player, the 2019 AHC Scoring Champion, the 2018 AHC Rookie of the Year, 11 AHC All-Conference selections, AIC's all-time points leader, AIC's all-time defenseman scoring leader, AIC's wins and shutouts leader, and two AIC Valedictorians.

SIZE MATTERS
The Catamounts as a team have an average height of 6'1.6" which makes them the tallest team in college hockey. Boston University (6'0.9") is the only other team in Hockey East in the top-10. Vermont is also fourth in the NCAA in average weight at 191.0 pounds.

The Catamounts enter the new season with six NHL Draft picks on the roster.

The Vermont roster is comprised of student-athletes from nine different countries. There is at least one player from Finland, Latvia, Russia, Slovakia, Sweden, Germany, Kazakhstan, Canada and the United States.
