FIELD HOCKEY NOTEBOOK
Vermont (6-8, 3-3 AE) returns home following a trip to Bryant. The Catamounts will face Maine (7-8, 3-3 AE) on Friday (Oct. 20) before taking on Colgate (3-10, 0-4 Patriot) on Sunday to finish the weekend. Both games will be streamed live on AmericaEast.TV.

PROMOTIONS
On Friday, we will recognize selected faculty and staff members during halftime. All Faculty and Staff are welcome to visit the marketing table to choose from a small assortment of giveaways as a token of appreciation. We will have a post-game Q and A with the Cats on Sunday.

LAST TIME OUT
Vermont faced Bryant last week and defeated them 5-1. The Catamounts received scoring contributions from Lotte Kanters, Alina Gerke, Lilly Leiprecht, and Maddie Moran. Sophia Lefranc also recorded two assists on the afternoon. The victory over Bryant means the Catamounts are on their first winning streak of the season and are outscoring opponents 13-3 in this stretch. 

LEADERBOARD WATCH
The Catamounts feature heavily in the leaderboards across America East this season, with many inside the top ten in certain categories. Moran currently ranks third in assists with seven. Lefranc ranks ninth in goals with eight and eighth in points with 21. Leiprecht ranks eighth in game-winning goals with two. Gerke ranks 10th in both goals and points with eight and 18. 

SCOUTING THE BLACK BEARS
Maine enters Friday's matchup fourth in the America East. Last week, the Black Bears lost 6-0 to New Hampshire and defeated Fairfield 2-0. The Black Bears were picked to finish second in the America East Preseason Poll after posting a 14-5 (8-0 AE) record in 2022. Mallory Macksey leads the team in scoring with 12 goals and 29 points. Tereza Holubcova and Saylor Kuefler have recorded 13 and 10 points each. Goalkeeper Mallory Drayer has a 5-7 record in 14 starts and a 2.59 goals-against-average.

SCOUTING THE RAIDERS
Colgate enters Sunday's matchup last in the Patriot League. Last week, the Raiders lost two games to Holy Cross and Stonehill. The Raiders will also host Boston University on Friday before coming to Burlington. Ella Murphy leads the team in scoring with four goals and 15 points. Her seven assists are the sixth most in the country. Alice Walton and Rachel Alderfer have recorded eight and seven points each. Goalkeeper Claire Van Kempen has a 3-8 record in 11 starts and a 3.06 goals-against-average.

SERIES HISTORY
The Catamounts and Black Bears have played 47 times, with Maine holding a 35-11-1 advantage in the series. The most recent matchup went the way of the Black Bears last year as they beat the Catamounts 2-1. Vermont's previous win in the series came in 2021 when they beat Maine 3-1. Vermont and Colgate have met 25 times, with the Raiders holding a 12-10-3 advantage in the series. The most recent matchup went the way of the Catamounts when they won 2-1 in double overtime last year.
