BURLINGTON, Vt. – Cioffi Men's Basketball Head Coach
John Becker spoke about his newest additions to the Vermont men's basketball program ahead of the start of the season. The Catamounts add five guards and three forwards to the squad.

Four transfers and four first-years make up Vermont's incoming class. The 2023-24 Catamounts will look to win a third-straight America East Championship for just the second time in school history. UVM was recently picked as the preseason favorite in America East for the seventh time in the last eight seasons.
Noah Barnett
6-9 • 195 • F • Poughkeepsie, N.Y. • Don Bosco Prep
"Noah is a versatile frontcourt player that brings energy and toughness. He is developing his skillset and is a player that has a bright future for us." - Becker
- Comes to Vermont after playing at Don Bosco Prep, which was ranked as the No. 1 team in New Jersey, and No. 30 in the country by MaxPreps.
- Barnett was one of two players averaging double figures, posting 11.3 points per game in 2022-23.
Shamir Bogues
6-4 • 190 • G • Killeen, Texas • Ellison (Tarleton State)
"Shamir is an elite defender with an incredible motor and athleticism. Offensively, we are transitioning him to more of a primary guard, which is a work in progress. He has been extremely impressive." - Becker
- Transfers to UVM after three seasons at Tarleton State, where he served as a captain and was named Defensive MVP for the Texans
- Earned WAC All-Defensive honors in each of the last two seasons. He averaged 9.5 points, 3.5 rebounds, and a league-best 2.0 steals in 2022-23.
Seth Joba
6-9 • 225 • F • Orchard Park, N.Y. • Bridgton Academy
"Seth is an extremely gifted offensive player. He has been working to get up to speed defensively, but the sky is the limit for him. We really like how our first-year bigs complement each other." - Becker
- Joins the Catamounts after a season at Bridgton Academy where he was named to the All-NEPSAC First Team, and was ranked as the top player in Maine.
- Graduated from Orchard Park High School prior to Bridgton. He was named Player of the Year in the Erie County Interscholastic Conference, and received All-State Second Team honors.
TJ Long
6-4 • 195 • G • Rockville Centre, N.Y. • Canterbury School (Fairfield)
"The former Sixth Man of the Year in the MAAC has been as good as advertised. A natural-born scorer. He can make tough shots and stretch the court behind the line. He will make an immediate impact." - Becker
- Transfers to Vermont after two seasons at Fairfield where he averaged 8.8 points per game and shot 35.7% from beyond the arc.
- Was named MAAC Sixth Man of the Year last season, posting 11.8 points per game in league play and ranking No. 5 in three-pointers per game (2.1).
Brenton Mills
6-3 • 185 • G • Allen, Texas • Allen (Binghamton/Bowling Green State)
"Brenton is a dynamic guard who can score at all three levels. He will have an important role on this team as he gets more comfortable with our system." - Becker
- Transfers to Vermont after two seasons at Bowling Green State.
- Mills started his collegiate career at Binghamton, where he was named to the America East All-Rookie Team in 2019-20, and All-Conference Third Team in 2020-21.
Michael Mora
6-6 • 205 • F • Palo Alto, Calif. • Asheville School
"Mike has done a nice job as a freshman. He has a big strong body and has been working hard developing his skillset. He can really shoot it and is adjusting to the college game." - Becker
- Joins the Catamounts after graduating from Asheville School in North Carolina.
- Mora was a two-year captain and earn three NCSIAA Championships while at Asheville.
Charlie Moore
6-4 • 185 • G • Santa Monica, Calif. • New Hampton School
"Charlie is a hard-working guard that can really shoot it. Extremely bright and an incredible teammate. Charlie is a winner and the program appreciates what he brings day in and day out." - Becker
- Comes to Vermont after a year at New Hampton School. Previously attended Palisades Charter High School.
- Chose UVM because of its, "diverse population and its very competitive athletics."
Jace Roquemore
6-5 • 170 • G • Henderson, Nev. • Foothill (UC San Diego)
"Jace is really smart, versatile guard. He is skilled and can play multiple positions. He will be a really dependable piece for our team. These types of players usually do really well in our system." - Becker
- Transfers to Vermont after earning a degree in Communications at UC San Diego.
- Started in every game over the last two seasons at UCSD, where he averaged 6.3 points, 3.3 rebounds, and 2.9 assists.
The Catamounts will see their first game-action of the season on Saturday (Oct. 28) when they host Catholic in an exhibition. Tip-off is set for 1 p.m. ET at Patrick Gym. Tickets are available for purchase at
