COACH'S QUOTE
"For about 50 minutes tonight we were able to play with BU," Head Coach
Todd Woodcroft said. "Going into the third period, having twice come back to tie it up, we felt positive about our game. Several young mistakes resulted in goals against. There will be some lineup changes tomorrow as we try to bring a 60-minute game."
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Boston University's Dylan Peterson opened the scoring for the Terriers 33 seconds into the contest. From the slot Peterson redirected a point shot from Ty Gallagher past UVM's Gabe Carriere for his third goal of the season.
- Andrei Buyalsky equalized for the Catamounts with 6:48 to play in the opening period. Carter Long kept the puck in at the point and his wraparound pass took a funny hop in the corner and bounced out front. A BU defender whiffed on the bouncing puck but Buyalsky one-touched a backhand over Drew Commesso's shoulder. Simon Jellus also earned an assist on Buyalsky's fourth goal of the season.
- Luke Tuch reestablished the BU lead with 3:44 to go in the middle frame. From the top of the faceoff circle he one-timed a shot past Carriere on a feed from Jay O'Brien.
- With just 1:05 to play in the second period Finn Evans responded for the Catamounts. Thomas Sinclair and Evans forced a BU turnover on the forecheck and turned it into instant offense. Evans poked the puck away and then Sinclair left a nifty back-pass to Evans and he wired past Commesso's glove for his second goal of the season.
- Devin Kaplan scored another go-ahead goal for the Terriers just 85 seconds into the third period. On a two-on-one rush Kaplan looked to shoot the whole time and fired a hard-low shot home for his ninth goal of the season.
- Just 1:39 later Quinn Hutson made it a two-goal game for the first time with his 10th goal of the season. Hutson had a step on a UVM defender cutting to the net and he one-touched a cross-ice feed from Domenick Fensore into the back of the net.
- There was no letup from the Catamounts and senior William Lemay pulled the Catamounts back within one with 8:57 to play in regulation. In transition Robbie Stucker quickly got the puck up to Evans in the neutral zone. Evans then lofted a perfect pass to Lemay as he cut to the middle of the slot. Lemay made a great move to his backhand and tucked it home for his first goal of the season.
- After the Vermont goal the Terriers killed the game with consistent possession. Commesso only had to make one more save before Peterson sealed the contest with an empty-netter.
