BOSTON – Vermont men's basketball guard,
Dylan Penn, has been named as a finalist for the 2022-23 Lou Henson National Player of the Year award. CollegeInsider.com announced its finalists on Thursday afternoon.

The Lou Henson National Player of the Year Award is presented annually to the top mid-major player Division I college basketball, and honors the legendary coach. The recipient of the 2023 award will be announced in March, in Houston site of the men's NCAA Basketball Championship.
Penn is the second Catamount in as many seasons to be named a finalist.
Ben Shungu received the honor in the 2021-22 season.
Penn is the lone America East player named as a finalist. He received America East All-Conference Second Team honors earlier this month. The fifth-year senior has averaged a team-high 13.2 points per game, earning starts in all 32 games for the Catamounts. Penn has knocked down 53.4% of his field goals on the season, including a 54.4% shooting rate in conference play.
The Evansville, Ind. native has averaged 23.5 points per game in Vermont's two playoff wins, shooting 67.7% from the field. Penn drained a career-high four three-pointers in Tuesday's America East Semifinal victory over No. 5 Binghamton.
Penn and the No. 1 Catamounts host No. 2 UMass Lowell (26-7, 10-5 AE) in the 2023 Jersey Mike's America East Championship Game on Saturday (Mar. 11) at Patrick Gym. Tip-off is slated for 11 a.m. ET. The title game will be nationally televised on ESPN 2, and will be available for streaming on ESPN+. Fans can listen to the game for free on the Vermont Sports Network, from Learfield on The Game, which will air on 97.1 FM in Burlington, 105.9 FM in Plattsburgh, and 960 AM around the rest of the region.
