LAST TIME OUT
The Catamounts dropped a 12-5 decision to Harvard last Friday – their second straight defeat at the hands of an Ivy League Foe. Vermont got goals from five different players in the contest and
Matt Shaffer made 12 stops in cage. Harvard outscored UVM 8-1 in the second quarter which proved to be difference in the contest and the two teams played an even 4-4 game the rest of the way.
Nick Alviti – snake bit for the early part of the season – scored his first goal of the season.
HUNTLEY HUNTING
First-year
Charles Huntley has scored four goals in his last two games. After a hat trick against Brown, Huntley scored again against Harvard to give him five goals this season.
JACOBS HEADING TO WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP
senior midfielder
Stone Jacobs was named to the 23-man roster for the Haudenosaunee Confederacy for the World Lacrosse Men's Championship in San Diego, Calif. Jacobs suited up for Haudenosaunee this past summer in the World Lacrosse U21 World Championship where they finished with a bronze medal.
SCOUTING THE MINUTEMEN
UMass is off to a 3-2 start to the season and most recently defeated UAlbany, 9-6, on Tuesday afternoon in Albany. The Minutemen were picked to finish third in inaugural Atlantic-10 preseason poll and also have wins over Army and UMass Lowell this season. Grad transfer defender Chris Campbell leads a stout defense in front of senior goalie Matt Knote – an All-CAA pick last season who enters the weekend with a 9.47 goals against average and a .602 save percentage. Gabriel Procyk leads UMass with 12 goals and 16 points this season.
INSIDE THE SERIES
Saturday is just the eighth meeting all-time between UVM and UMass and it's the first game in Burlington since the 1979 season. Last year, UMass held off a furious second-half comeback from UVM to take a 12-10 win and move to 7-0 in the all-time series.
