AMERICA EAST CHAMPIONSHIPS: DAY 1
ALBANY, N.Y. – Lauren Triarsi headlined Vermont track & field on Day 1 of the America East Outdoor Championships, closing the day as the leader in the women's heptathlon. The UVM women are currently in seventh place with 19 points. The Vermont men picked up nine points, and are in a three-way tie for seventh place.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Triarsi will enter Day 2 with an 88-point lead in the heptathlon. The senior recorded top marks in the 100-meter hurdles (14.52s) and 200-meter dash (25.97s). She was second in the high jump (1.61m) and shot put (9.74m). Kayla Myers is fifth in the heptathlon after Day 1. The sophomore produced the top shot put of 9.80 meters. The combined-event continues at 9:30 a.m. on Sunday.
- Steven O'Driscoll was one of 12 qualifiers in the men's 1500-meter prelims. The graduate student recorded a time of 3:58.45 to advance to Sunday's finals, which are scheduled for 11:45 a.m.
- A pair of Catamounts advanced through the 800-meter prelims. Charlotte Crum ran a qualifying mark of 2:16.10 in the women's 800-meter run. Kenneth Morrissey logged a time of 1:53.65 to qualify for the finals. Crum will race in Sunday's finals at 12:35 p.m. Morrissey will follow shortly after in the men's finals at 12:45 p.m.
- Alex Siaton qualified through two different preliminary races. The senior ran the fifth-fastest time in the men's 200-meter dash (21.61s) and grabbed a spot in the men's 100-meter finals with a time of 10.85 seconds in the prelims. Siaton will compete in the 100-meter finals at 1 p.m., and the 200-meter finals at 1:35 p.m.
- Two Catamounts qualified for the women's 400-meter hurdle finals. Sophie Christopher (1:06.59) ran UVM's top mark and the fourth-fastest time in the prelims. Nejla Hadzic logged a time of 1:07.36 to also advance to the finals, which will begin at 1:20 p.m.
- Henry Miller is currently in third place in the men's decathlon after five events. The sophomore ran the top mark in the 100-meter dash (10.95s) and the second-fastest 400-meter dash (51.92s). Jackson Baker is fifth in the decathlon after Day 1. The decathlon continues at 9:00 a.m. on Sunday morning.
- Andie Cornish led a trio of Cats in the 3000-meter steeplechase with a time of 11:31.58. The senior finished in fifth place, followed by Hope Tyska (11:31.84) and Cara Van de Meulebroecke (11:35.45) in sixth and seventh, respectively. The UVM trio picked up nine points in the event.
- Jameson Sparks (9:29.05) and Jacob Tremblay (9:50.03) combined for four points in the men's 3000-meter steeplechase with sixth-place and eighth-place finishes.
- Clare Kelly ran a scoring mark in the women's 10,000-meter run when she logged a time of 37:33.12 for a fifth-place finish.
- Carson Kopetz matched his personal-best pole vault mark of 4.40 meters to place fourth in the event. Â
- The Catamounts picked up six points in the women's javelin throw, led by Abby Martin (33.88m) who placed fifth in the competition. Alyssa Bourque recorded a throw of 32.83 meters for seventh place.
