"Coach Cole's recruiting has made a significant impact at every college he has coached at," head coach
Rob Dow said. "Brad shares a special role in the history of Vermont soccer, and we are fortunate that he is back on our coaching staff. Welcome home!"
Cole served as an assistant coach at Portland in 2022, helping the Pilots post a 15-3-3 record, advancing to the NCAA Quarterfinals for the first time in 27 seasons. Portland finished the season ranked No. 10 in the United Soccer Coaches National Top 25 poll. Serving as the recruiting coordinator, Cole helped put together the No. 4 recruiting class in the country.
He was also an assistant coach at Cornell in 2020 and 2021. His first season with the Big Red was canceled due to COVID. Cornell bounced back the following season and recorded an 11-3-2 mark. The Big Red spent four weeks in the United Soccer Coaches Top 25 poll and ranked in the top 10 in six statistical categories.
While on the UVM staff, the Catamounts secured two regular season titles and captured their fifth America East Championship in 2016. Cole worked with two players chosen in the MLS SuperDraft: Brian Wright and Geo Alves, and saw four major America East awards claimed by members of Vermont men's soccer. Cole started as a graduate assistant in 2015, served as Director of Operations from 2016 to 2018, and was promoted to assistant coach in 2019.
A native of South Burlington, Vermont, Cole stayed close to home at UVM. He played three seasons as a midfielder and defender, and served as a tri-captain in 2014. Cole later received the Russell O. Sunderland Memorial Trophy, which is presented to a UVM student-athlete who overcomes obstacles and maintains a high quality of play and academic prowess.
