FIELD HOCKEY NOTEBOOK
Vermont (4-5) gets back on the road this weekend for a Massachusetts trip as they play 18th-ranked UMass Lowell (7-2) on Friday (Sept. 29). The weekend wraps up with a visit to 12th-ranked Boston College (6-3) at 12 p.m. on Sunday. Friday's game will be streamed live on AmericaEast.TV. Sunday's game will be streamed live on ACC Network Extra.Â

LAST TIME OUT
Vermont split their weekend series, falling 2-1 to New Hampshire on Friday and defeating Cal 4-3 in overtime on Sunday. Lilly Leiprecht was the story on Friday as she scored her first career goal in the defeat. For the second time in two years, Sophia Lefranc was the hero as her goal in overtime capped off the Catamounts comeback. Sophia Drees and Meg Weyer each had a goal and an assist on the day, while Alina Gerke also got on the score sheet. Lauren Halenkamp shutout the Golden Bears when she came on in relief.Â

Vermont is 18-0 when scoring at least four goals under head coach Kate Pfeifer. The Cats have accomplished the feat 13 times since the 2019 season.
SCOUTING THE RIVER HAWKS
UMass Lowell enters the Friday afternoon matchup after winning against Maine and Brown. The Riverhawks were picked to finish fifth in the America East Preseason Poll after posting a 12-7 (6-2 AE) record in 2022. Madison Leeper leads the team in scoring with six goals and 15 points, while Karli Penrod and Isabelle Halters have recorded 11 and nine points, respectively. The Riverhawks offense ranks second in the country in scoring average, highlighting a dangerous attack. Goalkeepers Christina Calandra and Marie Olemans have split goalkeeping duties evenly this season, with both appearing in seven games. Calandra has a 3-2 record in seven appearances and a 2.00 goals-against-average. Olemans has a 4-0 record in seven appearances with a 0.44 goals-against-average, which is the third-best in the nation.Â
SCOUTING THE EAGLES
Boston College enters the Sunday matchup after splitting two games last weekend. They lost in double overtime to fourth-ranked Duke before beating America East foe New Hampshire 5-1. The Eagles will also host 10th-ranked Syracuse on Sept. 29 before hosting the Catamounts. Margo Carlin leads the team in scoring with eight goals and 20 points, while Peyton Hale and Kara Heck have recorded nine points each. Goalkeeper Caroline Kelly has a 6-3 record in nine starts and a 0.69 goals-against-average, the fifth-best in the nation.
SERIES HISTORY
The Catamounts and Riverhawks have played 23 times, with Vermont holding a 14-8-1 advantage in the series. The most recent matchup went the way of Lowell last year as they beat the Catamounts 1-0 in overtime. Vermont's most recent win in the series came in a double overtime 2-1 victory in 2019. Vermont and Boston College have met 17 times, with the Eagles holding a 12-5 advantage in the series. The most recent matchup went the way of Boston College when they won 3-0 in the rearranged 2020-21 season. The Catamounts last win came in an overtime 4-3 victory back in 1993.Â
