Swimming and Diving Visits Northeastern Saturday Before Hosting Siena on Senior Day Sunday

SWIMMING & DIVING NOTEBOOK
The Catamounts (5-3, 1-1 AE) will kick off action in 2024 on the road against Northeastern (2-1, 0-0 CAA) on Saturday (Jan. 13). The meet is scheduled to start at 10:30 a.m. and will be broadcast on FloSports with a paid subscription. On Sunday, Vermont will return to Forbush Natatorium to face Siena (3-5-1, 2-1 MAAC) in their annual Senior Day meet presented by UVM Health Advantage. Sunday's meet is scheduled to start at 1 p.m. and will be broadcast live on AmericaEast.TV.

2023 AMERICA EAST AWARDS
In the 2023 portion of the season the Catamounts earned six America Easy Weekly Awards. Jackie House has earned two America East Swimmer of the Week awards while first year Tannah Proudfoot has registered three America East Diver of the Week awards. Proudfoot also set a first year and UVM varsity record in the one-meter and three-meter dive against UNH.
 
MEET OUTLOOK
The Catamounts meet with Northeastern will begin with the three-meter diving event before kicking off swimming. The two teams will square off in the 200 medley relay to begin the swimming portion of the meet before competing 1000 free, 200 free, 100 back, 100 breast, 200 fly and 50 free. Following the 50 free, the Catamounts and the Huskies will face off in the one-meter diving competition. Following the one-meter, the two teams will compete in the 100 free, 200 back, 200 breast, 100 fly and 200 IM before concluding the meet with the 200 free relay.
 
SCOUTING NORTHEASTERN
The Huskies enter Saturday's matchup with a 2-1 record overall and have yet to face a CAA opponent. Northeastern lost their first of the season at MIT (159-138) before defeating UConn in their first meet of the season at Barletta Natatorium 165.5-133.5. The Huskies also have a first place finish at the Terrier Invitational and defeated another America East foe, UNH, 163-115 on December 9.
 
INSIDE THE SERIES
This will be the thirteenth dual meet all-time between the Catamounts and Huskies, with Northeastern holding a 12-0 advantage in the series. The last time these two teams met in a dual meet was last season in Burlington, Vermont, where Northeastern came away with a 165-134 victory. The Catamounts and Huskies will faceoff for the first time this season. Five different swimmers picked up individual victories including sophomores Autumn Bullinger and Natalie Schlemmer who picked up their first collegiate victories. 
 
UVM SWIMMING AND DIVING BOSTON MEET & GATHERING
Join the UVM Alumni Association and UVM Swimming & Diving Team in Boston to cheer on the Catamounts against Northeastern. Following their meet on Saturday, we encourage alumni and family members to join the team for a celebratory gathering with food and drinks provided. All swimming and diving alumni, families, and friends are welcome! RECOGNIZING OUR SENIORS
The senior ceremony will begin at 12:50 p.m. with Vermont recognizing the five seniors who have made an impact on our program over their time at UVM. The seniors graduating this season have made their presence felt in Catamount Country with an 18-12 overall record and 7-4 in America East competition since 2020. These Catamount seniors finished third in the America East Championships four times in a row, including a record-setting 677 points at the 2021-22 America East Championship, which is the most in program history. Last season, this squad came just short of that number with 563.5 points. Kara Campbell has claimed five top 10 America East Championships and is the former 200 IM America East record holder. Chloe Smith has set four top 12 diving finishes at the America East Championships throughout her career.
 
MEET OUTLOOK
The Catamounts Senior Day will begin with the 200 medley relay before heading into the 1000 free, 200 free, 100 back, 100 breast, 200 fly and 50 free to complete the first swimming portion of the competition. Following those events Vermont and Siena will compete in the one-meter diving event. The two teams will then compete in the second swimming portion of the competition which will consist of the 100 free, 200 back, 200 breast, 500 free and 100 fly before competing in the three-meter diving event. To conclude the meet the two teams will compete in the 400 IM and the 200 free relay.
 
SCOUTING SIENA
The Saints enter Sunday's matchup with a 3-5-1 overall record and 2-1 record against MAAC opponents. Siena has defeated Iona and Canisius while falling to Rider in conference dual meets. The Saints also finished third in the ECAC Championships (Dec. 1-Dec. 3). In non-conference Siena has fallen to Stony Brook, New Hampshire, Saint Francis (PA) and Rhode Island while tying with Sacred Heart.
 
INSIDE THE SERIES
This will be the 12th dual meet all-time between the Catamounts and Saints, with Vermont holding an 11-0 advantage in the series. The last time these two teams met in a dual meet was last season in Loudonville, NY where the Catamounts came away with a 173-115 victory. Vermont and Siena will faceoff for the first time this season. Jackie House and Ella Church each set Siena Swim Center records when the two teams last met, and Miranda Schuman earned her first collegiate victory as well
 
UP NEXT
Following this weekend, Vermont will return to action for one final meet against Rhode Island before the America East Championships begin. The Catamounts and the Rams will faceoff on Saturday, January 20. The meet is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. and will not be broadcast live.
