VERMONT OUTLOOK
  • The Vermont women's hockey team has been selected seventh overall in the 2024-25 Hockey East Preseason Coaches' Poll, receiving 47 total points in the poll. The reigning Hockey East champions, UConn, was selected to finish first.
  • Head Coach Jim Plumer has selected three student-athletes to lead the Catamounts during the 2024-25 campaign. Maddy Skelton and Alaina Tanski will serve as captains for Vermont while Anna Podein will be Vermont's alternate this season. Tanski and Skelton served as alternate captains last season as well.
  • The Catamounts return a hand full of familiar faces including member of the 2024 Hockey East All-Rookie Team, Kaylee Lewis, who finished her first season with 10 goals and eight assists for 18 total points, good for third most amongst Hockey East rookies last season. UVM also brings back Evelyne Blais-Savoie, who earned 21 total points last season on seven goals and 14 assists, good for second highest on the team. The 2023 Hockey East Rookie of the Year, Lara Beecher, returns for her third season in a Catamount uniform after posting a 19-point season in 2023-24 on nine goals and 10 assists.
  • Under Head Coach Jim Plumer the Catamounts are 6-5-1 in season openers.
  • UVM will play in Potsdam, N.Y. for the first time since November 11, 2017.
  • Vermont is 2-20-4 all-time against the Golden Knights. Their last meeting came on October 7, 2023, from Gutterson Fieldhouse, a 2-2 tie where the Cats came out victorious in a shootout.
  • Although the Catamounts have only defeated Clarkson twice in program history both were monumental milestones for the program. On October 17, 2009, Vermont earned its first-ever win over a ranked opponent defeating No. 4 Clarkson 4-1 at Gutterson Fieldhouse. Kailey Nash '12 netted the game-winner for Vermont. On November 10, 2017, the Catamounts defeated No. 3 Clarkson 3-2 after Taylor Willard '18 notched a game-winner with 68 seconds left in regulation. The win was the Catamounts first-ever over a top three opponent.

SCOUTING THE GOLDEN KNIGHTS
  • Clarkson is 2-0-0 on the campaign thus far, sweeping their regular season opening series with Saint Michael's College. The Golden Knights won 9-0 the first game and 14-0 the second game.
  • 18 different skaters registered a point or more for the Golden Knights throughout their matchups with Saint Michael's College.
  • Goaltenders Holly Gruber and Julia Minotti each started and played one game, earning shutouts in both those matches. They made 15 combined saves.
  • Clarkson was picked to finish first in the ECAC Women's Hockey Preseason Poll, finishing with six first place votes and receiving 113 total points in the poll.
  • The Golden Knights saw three players on the Women's Preseason All-League Team Roster. Defender Haley Winn (unanimous), fellow defender Nicole Gosling, and Forward Anne Cherkowski.
