VERMONT OUTLOOK
- Vermont most recently wrapped up its final non-conference slate of the season after facing off against #4 Minnesota Duluth. Despite dropping both matchups, the Catamounts weekend series was highlighted by Hailey Eikos scoring her second goal of the season while Kaylee Lewis and Kyla Bent each picked up their fifth assist of the season, tying a team high in that category.
- Friday's game vs Merrimack will be the final matchup of the season series between these two teams. The Warriors swept Vermont in a weekend series earlier this season (Oct. 11 and 12), winning both games by a score of 3-2. In the first game, after giving up three unanswered goals, Vermont stormed back scoring two goals in the final five minutes of action, seeing goals from Natalie Zarcone and Lara Beecher but were unable to complete the comeback bid. Alaina Tanski and Evelyne Blais-Savoie found the back of the net in the second matchup, but a late power play goal from the Warriors was ultimately the difference, earning Merrimack its first back-to-back victory vs Vermont since the 2018-19 season.
- In the month of December, Vermont holds a 25-45-7 all-time record.
- The Catamounts have dominated in the faceoff circle to begin the season, ranking 11th in the Nation in faceoff win percentage with a 52.3% success rate, good for third in Hockey East. Evelyne Blais-Savoie is at the forefront of these wins for UVM, individually ranking 7th in the Nation and first in Hockey East with 223 total wins on the campaign.
- Blais-Savoie leads the team in goals, securing four on the year so far.
- Beecher tops the squad in total points, earning eight thus far on three goals and five assists.
- Jane Gervais leads every goalie in Hockey East in total saves, securing 383 on the season to this point. Gervais was named by Hockey East as the runner up for the Goaltender of the Month award in the month of November.
SCOUTING THE WARRIORS
- Merrimack is 5-10-1 overall on the season and 2-6-1 in Hockey East play.
- The Warriors are 1-4 in their last five matchups. Their one win came against #12 ranked Penn State University, coming out victorious 3-1. Merrimack's last five games have all been on the road, returning to home ice for the first time since November 15.
- Merrimack's only two conference wins came in a weekend sweep of the Catamounts on October 11 and 12, winning each game by a score of 3-2.
- The Warriors are led by sophomore forward Maria Lindberg, who's posted a team high 13 points on a team high seven goals while being tied for a team high six assists. Lindberg scored one of her seven goals against Vermont on Oct. 12, 2024. Lindberg also leads her squad in shots on goal, tallying 41 on the season thus far.
- Vermont currently holds a six-game win streak when facing Merrimack from North Andover, Mass. at Lawler Rink. All time the Catamounts hold a 14-10-2 all-time record vs the Warriors.
