Game Notes: Vermont
ROAD WARRIORS
The Catamounts have accrued a 93-51 record on the road over the last 10 seasons, and have the fourth-highest winning percentage (.645) in the country during that stretch. Only Gonzaga (.882), Saint Mary's (.708) and Virginia (.664) are ahead of the Cats.
EMPIRE STATE OF MIND
Vermont has won 20 of its last 21 games in The Empire State, going back to the start of 2018. UVM's lone loss in New York during that stretch came in the First Round of the 2022 NCAA Tournament, when its upset bid fell short against No. 4 Arkansas (L, 75-71). The Cats have not lost to an America East foe in New York since the 2016 title game at Stony Brook (L, 80-74).
SCOUTING THE GREAT DANES
UAlbany currently sits in fifth place in the America East standings, with a 0.5-game lead on Binghamton (4-8) and UMBC (4-8). The Great Danes split their two-game set a week ago, earning an 83-58 victory against NJIT, followed by an 80-75 loss at UMBC. UAlbany is 1-4 in its last five games. The Great Danes boast the league's top offense, averaging 79.5 points per game in conference play. Defensively, they allow a league-high 82.3 points per game. UAlbany's attack is led by Sebastian Thomas (18.9 ppg) and Amar'e Marshall (18.7 ppg) who rank fourth and fifth, respectively, in conference scoring.
INSIDE THE SERIES
The Catamounts have earned wins in each of their last six trips to UAlbany, and own a 17-7 road record in the all-time series. Vermont is 39-15 in 54 meetings with UAlbany, and 9-1 in the last 10 games. The Cats earned an 81-59 victory over the Great Danes on Feb. 1 at Patrick Gym.
Nick Fiorillo led UVM with 15 points.
Ileri Ayo-Faleye recorded his second career double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds.
20-WIN MARK
Vermont secured its 20th victory of the season last week against New Hampshire (W, 70-54). The Catamounts have reached the 20-win mark for the 15th-straight full season. Only two other schools have reached the 20-win mark in each of the last 15 full seasons: Gonzaga and Kansas. Since the start of the millennium, UVM has reached the 20-win mark in 20 seasons.
DEFENSE, DEFENSE, DEFENSE
UVM has boasted a league-best 60.1 scoring defense through 12 games in America East play. Nationally, only Saint Mary's has allowed fewer points per game (57.4) in conference play this season.
DEFENSIVE REBOUNDING
Vermont ranks sixth in the nation in defensive rebounding percentage (77.0%). The Cats have ranked in the nation's top 20 in defensive rebounding percentage in each of the last seven seasons.
