CHASING A THREE-PEAT
UVM is in search of its first America East Championship three-peat since 2005. A three-peat has only happened four times in league history.
CATS AS A NO. 1
The Catamounts are the No. 1 seed for the seventh time in the last eight seasons. UVM is 25-4 all-time as the No. 1 seed, 8-2 in the semifinals.
SCOUTING THE WILDCATS
New Hampshire defeated No. 5 Binghamton 77-64 in the Jersey Mike's America East Quarterfinals on Saturday in Durham, N.H. America East Player of the Year, Clarence Daniels, led the Wildcats with 20 points and 14 rebounds in the victory. Trey Woodyard (17 points), Ahmad Robinson (12 points), Naim Miller (11 points), and Jaxson Baker (10 points) also reached double figures in the quarterfinal win. Robinson was named to the All-Conference Third Team. The Wildcats averaged eight treys a game in America East play, which ranked third in the conference.
INSIDE THE SERIES
UVM and UNH meet for the 162nd time in series history. The Catamounts own a 111-50 record in the all-time series and are 60-18 at home. UVM has won 25 straight meetings with UNH at Patrick Gym – its last loss came in 2000. The Catamounts earned wins in both meetings with the Wildcats this season.
Aaron Deloney poured in 28 points a 70-54 victory at home on Feb. 15. Sam Alumutu had a career-high 23 points in the regular season finale to lead the Catamounts to a 68-64 win in Durham on Mar. 2.
CATS VS. NEW HAMPSHIRE IN THE PLAYOFFS
Vermont is 7-0 vs. New Hampshire in the America East Playoffs. The Cats are 3-0 as the No. 1 seed and 3-0 in the semifinals. The two schools will meet in the semifinals for the first time since 2017 when top-seeded Vermont defeated fourth-seeded New Hampshire 74-41.
RECENT PLAYOFF DOMINANCE
Vermont has won seven straight America East Playoff games, dating back to the 2022 Quarterfinals. UVM has outscored opponents by an average scoring margin of 25 points. Saturday's quarterfinal win over No. 8 UAlbany (W, 75-72) is the only game decided by single digits during that run.
DOUBLE-DIGIT COMEBACKS
UVM rallied back from a 10-point deficit in the quarterfinals Saturday. The victory marked Vermont's fifth double-digit comeback of the season. The Catamounts are 9-4 this season when trailing at the break.
COACH OF THE YEAR
Cioffi Men's Basketball Head Coach
John Becker earned his seventh America East Coach of the Year award after leading Vermont to its eighth consecutive regular season title. The UVM bench boss has collected Coach of the Year Awards in six of those eight seasons. The Catamounts won the regular season by three games this year, posting a 15-1 record in America East play. UVM's 25 overall regular season wins tie for the second most in program history. Becker's seven America East Coach of the Year awards tie him for the fourth-most awards in a single conference in the history of NCAA Division I Men's Basketball.
NEWCOMER OF THE YEAR
Shamir Bogues was named America East Newcomer of the Year, awarded to the league's top transfer, while also earning All-Conference First Team and All-Defensive honors. The Killeen, Texas native led the Catamounts in scoring seven times this season, including a team-best four times in America East play. Vermont was 4-0 in league play when Bogues led in scoring. Bogues scored a season-high 23 points in UVM's thrilling 20-point comeback at UMBC. He led the Catamounts in rebounding (5.3 rpg) and steals (1.1 spg) in league play, while ranking second in assists (2.4 apg) and third in scoring (10.1 ppg). Bogues ranked third in America East play in adjusted defensive rating (94.2).
