2019 Jersey Retirement Ceremony
Sorrentine joins the Wizards' staff after serving as associate head coach at Brown since 2011. The Pawtucket, R.I. native spent a total of 16 seasons on the Bears' staff. This past season, Sorrentine and the Bears upset top-seeded Princeton in the semifinals to reach the program's first Ivy Madness Championship game.
Inducted to the UVM Athletic Hall of Fame in 2015, Sorrentine famously hit a three-pointer "from the parking lot" that lifted Vermont over No. 4 Syracuse in the 2005 NCAA Tournament. Sorrentine was an America East Rookie of the Year, America East Player of the Year, and a three-time America East All-Conference First Team performer. He ranks third among the all-time leading scorers at UVM with 2,013 points and graduated second with 548 assists and third with 164 steals. In 2019, his number 11 was retired alongside teammate
Taylor Coppenrath's number 22 in a pregame ceremony prior to a UVM exhibition with Brown.
Sorrentine is one of two Vermont men's basketball alumni currently on an NBA coaching staff.
Justin Mazzulla '22 was recently promoted to the Utah Jazz as an assistant video coordinator.
