BURLINGTON, Vt. – With five days to go before the start of the 2024 season, the Vermont field hockey team has its captains.

Meg Weyer will again wear the captain's armbands this fall and will be joined by fellow senior

Drees will be a constant threat again from the midfield this season. She has started all 53 games thus far and finished 2023 with a career-high six goals and six assists. She was named to an America East all-conference team for the second straight season in 2023. She sits just four assists away from breaking the program record for career assists.
Weyer enters her senior season as one of the program's most versatile players. She finished the 2023 season with a career-high nine points on two goals and five assists. She has appeared in every game so far in her three years in Burlington and will look to provide further support to the offense.
Hillery joins the trio and will provide continued offensive support. She played in all 18 games last fall, including 15 starts, with a career-high 553 minutes played. She finished 2023 with a pair of goals and an assist. She will provide defense coverage from the front as one of the top defensive forwards. She was also the recipient of the 2024 Jeff Stone Memorial Award which recognizes exceptional contributions in community service.
The Catamounts travel to Lafayette to take on the Leopards at 6:00 p.m. on Friday (Aug. 30) and then travel to Rutgers on Sunday (Sept. 1) to wrap up the weekend.
