BURLINGTON, Vt. – Vermont (5-19-2, 4-13-2 HE) women's hockey travels to Boston, MA this weekend for two matchups against two different opponents. On Friday (Jan. 31) the Catamounts faceoff against #14 Northeastern (17-8-1, 12-6-1 HE) from Matthews Arena while on Saturday (Feb. 1) UVM concludes its season series with Boston University (16-8-1, 13-4-1 HE) from Walter Brown Arena. Friday's puck drop is scheduled for 6 p.m. while on Saturday, puck drop is slated for 4 p.m. Both games will be broadcast live on ESPN+.

VERMONT OUTLOOK
- Friday's matchup with Northeastern will be the first meeting between the two programs this season. Saturday's contest with Boston University will be the final game of the season series between the Catamounts and the Terriers.
- Vermont split a home weekend series with Boston University in the second week of January 2025, falling 2-1 to BU in the first matchup but pouncing back, winning 3-2 in the second game. Grace Nelles, Oona Havana, Lara Beecher, and Kyla Bent all secured one goal vs the Terriers throughout the weekend.
- Maddy Skelton scored her first goal of the season in a 3-2 overtime loss to UConn in the Catamount's most recent weekend series. Cecilia DesLauriers also found the back of the net, tallying her second goal on the season.
- Vermont is one of four Hockey East schools to have at least five defenders register at least one goal or more on the season. Bent, Natalie Zarcone, Ashley Kokavec, Hailey Eikos, and Josie Hemp all have notched at least one goal this season. UNH, Holy Cross, and Merrimack are the other three Hockey East schools.
- UVM has been solid in the faceoff circle this season, ranking 16th in the Nation in faceoff win percentage with a 51.5% success rate, good for fourth in Hockey East. Evelyne Blais-Savoie is at the forefront of these wins for UVM, individually ranking eighth in the Nation and first in Hockey East with 310 total wins on the campaign.
- UVM is one of five Hockey East schools to have two or more defenders with seven assists on the season so far, (Bent and Kokavec). Providence, UConn, Northeastern, and Boston University are the other four Hockey East schools.
- Beecher leads a team high 12 points on four goals and a team high eight assists. Beecher also leads the team in shots, totaling 84 so far this season.
- Beecher's 84 shots are the sixth most in the Hockey East conference this season.
- Blais-Savoie leads the team in goals, securing five on the campaign thus far to go along with three assists.
- Kokavec is tied for sixth place in Hockey East for most points as a defenseman, notching ten points on three goals and seven assists. Her ten points leads all UVM blue liners.
- Kokavec has tallied 62 shots on the season thus far, the second most shots by a defenseman in Hockey East. (Providence's Brooke Becker has the most as a defender, 71).
- Vermont is one of four Hockey East schools to have two defenders with three or more goals, (Eikos and Kokavec). Providence, Boston College, and New Hampshire are the other three schools.
SCOUTING THE HUSKIES
- Northeastern is 17-8-1 overall on the season and 12-6-1 in Hockey East play, currently sitting at fourth in the Hockey East standings.
- The Huskies are currently riding on a three-game win streak, defeating Boston University 4-0 in the Beanpot championship and sweeping a weekend series with Merrimack outscoring the Warriors 8-1 during the two-game series.
- Northeastern holds a 11-4-0 home record while posting a 5-4-1 road record this season.
- The Huskies are led by senior forward Skylar Irving, notching a team high 23 points with 10 goals and a team high 13 assists. Irving's 23 points is good for third in Hockey East for most points scored thus far this season.
- Northeastern is the only Hockey East school to have five skaters with 11 or more assists on the season to this point.
- The Catamounts are 11-48-5 all-time against Northeastern. Vermont currently holds a three-game unbeaten streak vs the Huskies, going 2-0-1 in the season series last season, outscoring the Huskies 6-3 in those three games including a 2-0 shutout win on the road.
SCOUTING THE TERRIERS
- Boston University is 16-8-1 overall and 13-4-1 in Hockey East play, currently tied for first in the Hockey East standings. The Terriers have a home matchup with Boston College on Friday (Jan. 31) a day before they take the ice with Vermont on Saturday (Feb. 1).
- The Terriers most recently swept Holy Cross in a weekend series that saw BU earn back-to-back shutout wins, coming out victorious 2-0 in the first game on the road and winning 3-0 on home ice in the second matchup. Prior to Boston Universities weekend series with Holy Cross the Terriers fell 4-0 to Northeastern in the Beanpot championship game from TD Garden in Boston, MA.
- BU holds a 6-2-1 home record while posting a 9-5-0 away record this season.
- The Terriers are anchored by grad student defensemen Julia Shaunessy who leads the team in points with 15 total on one goal and 14 assists. Shaunessy's 14 assists are tied for most in Hockey East by a blueliner.
- BU is also led by junior forward Sydney Healey who leads the team with nine total goals.
- The Catamounts are 13-43-8 all-time against Boston University, most recently splitting a two-game weekend series with the Terriers from Gutterson Fieldhouse. BU took the first game 2-1 before Vermont rallied back and earned its first win over Boston University since the 2022-23 season, defeating the Terriers 3-2 on January 11, 2025 this season.
