2026 Kathy Delaney-Smith Mid-Major Coach of the Year Preseason Watch List

HOPEWELL, N.J. — Her Hoop Stats announced a 20-person watch list for the 2026 Kathy Delaney-Smith Mid-Major Coach of the Year Award. The award is named in honor of legendary Harvard head coach Kathy Delaney-Smith. Mayer Women's Basketball Head Coach Alisa Kresge was among the 20 coaches named to the preseason watch list.
To be eligible for the award, coaches must compete in one of the 26 conferences classified as mid-major. A 10-person midseason watch list will be announced in January, followed by the release of five finalists in March. The winner will be named around the Final Four.
Delaney-Smith compiled a 630-434 (.592) record in 40 seasons at Harvard, including a 367-168 (.685) mark in Ivy League play. Her 630 career victories rank 32nd in NCAA Division I history.
In her time as head coach, Kresge has compiled a 118-81 record, good for a .593 winning percentage. With 11 wins this season, she would become the winningest head coach in Vermont women's basketball history. Last season, the Catamounts captured their eighth America East championship and earned their eighth NCAA tournament berth.
