BURLINGTON, Vt. – The Vermont men's basketball team took an 85-74 victory against Northeastern on the road Saturday afternoon.
Gus Yalden led the Catamounts in scoring with 18 points off the bench.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- TJ Long got a quick corner three to go, thanks to a kick-out pass from Lucas Mari. But at the 16-minute media timeout, Vermont trailed 6-3.
- After Vermont made its first three-pointer, Northeastern responded with a 12-6 scoring run. During this stretch, Sean Blake made consecutive three-pointers before the 12-minute media timeout. Blake was then charged with a technical foul. At the 11:49 mark, the Catamounts trailed 12-9.
- As the game progressed, Vermont still trailed by 3 at the 7:32 mark, 19-16. During this stretch, Gus Yalden recorded his first points as a Catamount with a post move in the paint, and Jackson Skipper also connected with a three-pointer.
- Continuing to chip away, Vermont trailed 25-23 at the 4-minute mark after a Noah Barnett layup and another Gus Yalden post move.
- The Catamounts trailed 33-30 at the half. Sean Blake led Vermont with a team-high 8 points at the break.
- Northeastern stormed out in the 2nd half, leading 43-37 at 15:59. TJ Hurley hit a three, and Yalden scored in the paint.
- Vermont then surged ahead at the 11:41 mark as Gus Yalden scored six straight points and assisted Sean Blake for a layup, pushing the Catamounts back into the lead at 48-47.
- Jackson Skipper hit back-to-back threes, then Yalden added another to extend the lead. Vermont led 60-50 at the 8-minute timeout.
- Yalden assisted Mari for a three-pointer and scored again as Vermont led 68-54 with 3:26 left.
- Noah Barnett sealed the game with multiple slam dunks as Vermont was able to thwart a Northeastern comeback.
