LEXINGTON, Va. – On day two of the 2025 America East Swimming and Diving Championships the Catamounts moved into first place propelled by several podium finishes and highlighted by their 200 Freestyle Relay team that set a new conference record with a time of 1:32.17. Vermont now sits in first place with 259 points, 20 ahead of second place New Hampshire and 29 in front of Bryant.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Ellie Fazio, Havana Layton, Jackie House and Hally Laney set the new conference, pool and varsity record in the final women's event of the evening. Their time of 1:32.17 was .21 seconds faster than UMBC. UVM earned 40 team points with the win.
- The Catamounts started the evening's finals with two All-Conference performances in the 500 Free. House finished second with a time of 4:51.32 and Ella Church was third in a time of 4:51.87.
- New Hampshire's Lydia Hart won the 500 Free with a conference record time of 4:42.12.
- Laney won the 200 IM for the Catamounts in a varsity record time of 2:01.65. She topped Bryant's Amanda Witkus by 1.43 seconds to earn the title. Natalie Schlemmer also earned All-Conference honors placing third in a time of 2:03.97.
- Emma Freer was fourth for the Catamounts in the event finishing .5 seconds after Schlemmer.
- In the 50 Free Fazio set another varsity record for the Catamounts. She finished fourth overall in a time of 23.09. Layton was also seventh for the Catamounts in the event.
- UMBC's Ashley Gutsall won the event with a time of 22.65.
WHAT'S NEXT
Following Thursday's action, the Catamounts will continue to compete in the America East Championships with Day Three on Friday. Preliminaries will begin at 10 a.m. in the 400 IM, 100 Fly, 200 Free, 100 Breast and 100 Back. The 1m Diving prelims will go at 1:45 p.m. At 5 p.m. the finals will begin for all the previous events and the 400 Medley Relay. All of Friday's action will be streamed live on ESPN+.
