Vermont Hosts UMass Lowell Saturday for Rally Against Cancer presented by Mascoma Bank

 
BURLINGTON, Vt. – Vermont (16-11) (9-3 AE) hosts UMass Lowell (16-11) (5-7 AE) on Saturday afternoon. Action from Patrick Gymnasium will tip off at 4:30 p.m. ET and it will be on ESPN+.  
 
Mascoma Bank will be handing out Rally Towels for the first 500 fans in attendance. UVM Cancer Center will be handing out giveaway items in the lobby of Patrick Gymnasium. We will be doing an on-court recognition of the clinical trials team from UVM Cancer Center. They will be gifted a team-signed RAC jersey as a token of appreciation for all they are doing to help fight cancer in our community.

BROADCAST INFORMATION
The conference clash will broadcast live on ESPN+. Fans can listen to the game for free on the Vermont Sports Network, from Learfield on The Game, which will air on 97.1 FM in Burlington, 105.9 FM in Plattsburgh, and 960 AM around the rest of the region. The radio broadcast is also available via the Varsity Network App with Brian McLaughlin on the call.

VERMONT OUTLOOK
  • The Catamounts are coming off a 59-55 win against Bryant on Thursday night.
  • Three different Catamounts earned double-digit scoring against Maine. TJ Hurley (17), Ileri Ayo_Faleye (15), and Shamir Bogues (11) contributed for Vermont.
  • Noah Barnett recorded a career-high nine rebounds against Bryant.
  • Hurley leads UVM in scoring averaging 15.7 points per game. He has had eight 20+ point games this season. TJ Hurley ranks 37th in the country and 2nd in the America East in free throw percentage. On the year, Hurley has shot 87.9 percent from the line.
  • The Catamounts allow 64.1 points per game, which ranks UVM as the 18th best scoring defense in the country and 1st in the America East. UVM also ranks 56th in defending the three-point line, allowing opponents to shoot 31.1% from three. Vermont has also averaged 13.9 fouls per game, which is the 16th lowest.
  • Catamounts are ranked 86th in blocks per game (4). Ileri Ayo-Faleye ranks 42nd in the country with 1.74 blocks per game.
  • Vermont sits in 2nd place in the America East standings.
 
SCOUTING THE RIVER HAWKS
  • UMass Lowell is 16-11 on the year coming off a 98-79 win against UMBC on Thursday.
  • The River Hawks rank 8th nationally in field goal percentage. On the year they have shot only 49.6% from the field. UMass Lowell also ranks 31st in points per game, scoring 81.1 points a game.
  • UMass Lowell is ranked 22nd in defensive rebounds per game averaging 27.7 defensive rebounds a game.
  • 5th year Forward Max Brooks leads UMass Lowell averaging 15.7 points, 8 rebounds, and 2.7 blocks per game. The three-time America East All-Defensive Team honoree ranks 6th in the country in blocks and 57th in rebounds per game.
  • This will be the 26th matchup between Vermont and UMass Lowell. The Catamounts have won six straight games against the River Hawks. UMass Lowell and Vermont have matched up in the America East Championship for the past two seasons.
