AMESBURY, Mass – The Vermont women's hockey team has been selected seventh in the 2025-26 Hockey East Preseason Coaches' Poll for the second straight season, sharing the seventh position with Maine, garnering 41 total points in the poll. The league made the announcement on Tuesday morning (Sep. 16).

Back-to-back regular season champions, UConn, were selected first collecting 86 total points and five first-place votes, followed by defending Hockey East champions, Boston University, in second with 82 total points and five first-place votes. Northeastern was selected in third with 76 total points while Boston College (64 points) and Providence (61 points) wrapped up the top five in fourth and fifth. New Hampshire was picked sixth with 44 total points and Vermont tied with Maine for seventh, collecting 41 total points. Holy Cross (27 points) and Merrimack (18 points) completed the top 10.
Vermont welcomes 10 newcomers to the 2025-26 roster including four transfers that combine for 294 NCAA games played, 113 goals, 105 assists, and 218 total points, while also welcoming six first year players.

Vermont opens the 2025-26 campaign with an exhibition matchup against Saint Michael's on Saturday, September 20 at 2 p.m. The Catamounts Home Opener is set for Friday, October 3 at 6 p.m. as UVM welcomes No. 8 Penn State to Gutterson Fieldhouse for the first time since 2019.
