LEXINGTON, KY – With a throw of 50.83m
Emma Wapshare set the Vermont program record in the javelin, won her flight, and advanced to the NCAA Championships in Eugene, Oregon by finishing 11th overall in the East First Round on Thursday from the UK Outdoor Track and Field Complex.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Competing in the first of four flights, Emma Wapshare used her third throw of the event to launch the javelin 50.83m for the school record, previously held by Nika Ouellette '14 at 50.01m.
- The throw was good enough to win the first flight, with the top-12 finishers overall from the East Regional moving on the to the national final. Eventually, Wapshare would finish in 11th place, punching her ticket to the NCAA Championship.
- Her throw was an improvement of over seven meters from her performance in the 2025 NCAA East Regional, when she finished 34th.
- Bucknell's Evelyn Bliss won the regional for the second consecutive year with a facility best throw of 61.02m.

The Outdoor NCAA Championships are scheduled for June 10-13 in Eugene, Oregon at historic Hayward Field. The women's javelin is scheduled for Thursday, June 11 at 9:15 p.m. (ET).
