COLCHESTER, Vt. – Vermont won both the men's and women's 8k race at the Equality Invitational hosted by St. Michael's College on Saturday morning.

Both the men and women had performances that were faster (much faster in some cases) than last year on this course.To have that many men in the 26's today was tremendous. HOW IT HAPPENED
- For the Vermont men, Daniel Brennan paced the field to start the day. The Junior won the men's 8k with a time of 26:09.50. He was the first of eight Catamounts in the top-10, including Cody Young (25:45.80) and Oscar Schiff (25:51.40) who raced unattached finishing in fifth and sixth.
- Henry Nasse brought home second place with a 26:14.70. Junior classmate Zak Metzger came in third at 26:35.50. Freshman Dillon Stoeffler followed in fourth at 26:39.80.
- Fox Mace came across in eighth place with a 26:52.30 and Nate Swanson rounded out the top-ten and times under 27 minutes for Vermont. He posted a 26:56.80.
- Adam Bilodeau led St. Michael's competitors with a 26:52.20.
- Behind five of the top-six results of attached racers, the Vermont men won the team event against St. Michaels and SUNY Canton with 16 points.
- Mary Jane Thompson snagged the individual title in the women's race. The Freshman crossed the line at 31:33.90. Stephanie Ager was racing unattached for Vermont and was the first to finish overall.
- Ava Hayden raced to a fourth-place finish at 32:33.40. Cassandra Royer placed sixth overall with a time of 33:11.60 for Vermont with Hannah Shea in seventh at 33:24.60. Emma Riker completed the top-10 at 34:04.60.
- Ager, Shawn Laverty and Savai Esarey all raced unattached for Vermont and were in the top-10 finishers.
- The Vermont women beat St. Michaels in the head-to-head with 20 points. Vermont had point scorers finish 1st, 3rd, 4th, 5th and 7th.

- The Catamounts return to action in October when both men and women teams compete in the New England Championships. The meet takes place in Hopkinton, New Hampshire on Friday, October 9.
