SOUTH BURLINGTON, Vt. - The University of Vermont Athletic Department hosted its annual Catamount Golf Classic presented by Baker Distributing on Monday, July 14 at Vermont National Country Club in South Burlington. The double shotgun scramble tournament raised $26,185 in support of the Victory Club Scholarship Fund. Almost 150 golfers participated in the tournament, which raised more than enough money to support one instate Vermont student-athlete's tuition, fees and room and board. The Athletic Department would like to thank all the golf participants and tee sponsors that helped make the day such a success.
Each golfer received a cooler provided by Select Design, a six-pack of Otter Creek Fresh Slice donated by Baker Distributing and a 47 Brand Catamount hat. On the course, The Heritage Group supplied a Toyota and Steve Gentile, Morgan Stanley, sponsored a $10,000 cash prize for hole in one prizing, and athletics staff delivered Switchback beer, Boloco, Junior's Downtown pizza and beverages (provided by Coca-Cola) to golfers during their round. Other food was provided by The Bagel Place and Kountry Kart Deli.

Following play, participants were greeted by Director of the Victory Club,
Fred Palmer and addressed by Associate Vice President and Director of Athletics
Dr. Robert Corran. A buffet was then served and Mansfield Heliflight provided a golf ball drop on the driving range, with the winner receiving a jetBlue roundtrip voucher. Raffle prizes, donated by the UVM Bookstore, Hockey East, UVM Campus Recreation, Smugglers' Notch Resort, Jay Peak, Libby Smith '02, USA Hockey and America East were drawn. Silent auction items included autographed items from the Boston Red Sox, Tim Thomas '97, Marqus Blakely '10, Torrey Mitchell '08,
Courtnay Pilypaitis '10, Kevan Miller '12 and Patrick Sharp '02 as well as Boston Red Sox (provided by Tickets.com) and New York Giants tickets (provided by Tony Cairns), a jetBlue roundtrip voucher, TaylorMade driver, a Smugglers' Notch season pass, Jay Peak greens fees and a Gutterson Fieldhouse ice rental.
Libby Smith '02 (women's basketball and golf, Hall of Fame inductee '12) was on hand to provide a Catamount Golf Classic Clinic prior to each shotgun start. Ryan Gunderson '07 (men's hockey) sponsored a putting contest where participants could win $2500.
Individual contest winners included Equipment Manager
Charlie Mackey receiving a gift certificate to Dick's Sporting Goods for the men's Closest to the Pin. Melanie Levitt and Al Marchessault each received gift certificates to The SuperStore for winning the longest drive competition.

Women's Lacrosse will host an

Men's Soccer Alumni Weekend will take place around the Morgan Stanley Windjammer Classic
