Kate Pfeifer announced her recruiting class for the upcoming 2014 season today. The incoming class, which includes nine freshmen and three transfers, features players from eight different states and Canada.
Lena BenwoodGK – 5-6 – North Vancouver, British Columbia/Handsworth SecondaryBenwood, a goalkeeper from British Columbia, helped guide her Handsworth Secondary squad to the AAA Provincial Championship title in three consecutive years from 2011-13.

Taylor Gaines M - 5-11 - Surrey, British Columbia/North Surrey SecondaryGaines was a team captain in each of her years at North Surrey Secondary and helped lead the squad to High School Provincials from 2010-12. Gaines was named the team's MVP in both 2009 and 2011.

Jackie Gillen M - 5-1 - Middletown, Delaware/Caravel AcademyGillen was a team captain in her final season at Caravel Academy and was selected as an all-state performer in both 2012 and 2013. In her senior season, Gillen finished as the third-highest scorer in Delaware.

Lauren HiltzB – 5-3 - Woodbine, Maryland/Mount de Sales AcademyHiltz, a team captain at Mount de Sales, helped lead her team to championship titles in 2011 and 2013. She earned IAAM All-Conference honors and was selected to the National Futures Championship in 2012.

Kyra Lee B - 5-4 - Ottawa, Ontario/Nepean HSLee was named a team captain from 2012-13, and was chosen as the squad's MVP in 2013. During her sophomore season, Lee helped her team capture the field hockey city championship.

Kimmy Lizotte M - 5-9 - Bolton, Massachusetts/Littleton HS/Bryant UniversityLizotte, a transfer from Bryant, appeared in all 18 games for the Bulldogs a season ago, finishing with the most points (5) among Bryant's freshmen. In high school, Lizotte was a three-time league all-star and was named league MVP in 2011-12.

Erica Lyon M - 5-3 – Burlington, Vermont/Burlington HSLyon, who comes to UVM from nearby Burlington High School, earned a spot on the 2013 Burlington Free Press First Team and NVAC All-Metro First Team. Following her senior year, she was selected to the VT Twin State Team as a midfielder.

Ava Mirzadegan B - 5-5 - McLean, Virginia/McLean HS/Radford UniversityMirzadegan spent last season at Radford University, where she appeared in 17 games and finished with the fourth-most defensive saves on the team. In High School, she was a two-time all-district performer, Liberty District Player of the Year and Washington Post All-Met Honorable Mention selection.

Tess O'Brien F - 5-0 - Wolfeboro, New Hampshire/Holderness SchoolO'Brien, a team captain for her senior season, led the squad to the Lakes Region Championship in both 2012 and 2013, as well as the NEPSAC Championship in 2013. O'Brien was a Lakes Region All-League selection and earned a spot on the NEPSAC All-Tournament Team during her time at Holderness.

Molly Ogden B - 5-6 - Pewaukee, Wisconsin/Divine Savior Holy Angels HSOgden played four seasons at Divine Savior Holy Angels High School in Milwaukee, where she was named a team captain in each of her final two years with the squad.

Charlotte Posauner F - 5-3 - Radnor, Pennsylvania/Radnor HSPosauner, a 2013 team captain, was a two-time All-Central region selection and was named to All-Delco teams in each of her final two seasons. In 2013, Posauner was selected to the First Team All-Main Line Team.

Lizzy Saward F - 5-5 - South Burlington, Vermont/South Burlington HS/St. Lawrence UniversitySaward spent her first two collegiate seasons at St. Lawrence, and led the squad with seven goals and 17 points last year. She attended South Burlington High School, where she was a team captain and helped lead her team to a Vermont state title in 2010.

The Catamounts open the regular season with a home contest against Providence on August 29 at Moulton Winder Field at 12 p.m. UVM returns two of its top four goal scorers from a season ago in
Ashley McDonald and
Molly Higgins.
