PELKEY AVERAGING A POINT A GAMEThrough 19 games this season senior co-captain
Amanda Pelkey has picked up 20 points (9 Gl, 11 Ast). She is one of only 30 players in the NCAA averaging at least a point a game. During the 2013-14 campaign she had 40 points in 36 games played and became the first Catamount to average a point per game over the course of a season in program history.
QUICK STARTS KEY FOR VERMONT The Catamounts are 7-3-1 when they score first this season. They are also 5-1-0 this season when leading after the first period. Vermont is 5-4-2 when they are tied after the first and second period.
SCOUTING THE OPPONENTConnecticut: The Huskies are 4-11-6 this season and have won only two games since November. However UConn has picked up three league points in tie contests against Maine, Northeastern and Providence, the two latter coming on the road.
In their most recent game the Huskies fell 8-2 at No. 6 Harvard Tuesday night. Freshmen Leah Lum and Theresa Knutson scored for the Huskies while their goaltender Elaine Chuli made 35 saves. Chuli has made 30 or saves in nine of her 13 saves this season.
Chuli was named the Hockey East Goaltender of the Week after making 42 saves in the Huskies 3-3 tie at Northeastern last Saturday.
Senior forward Sarah MacDonnell leads the team in scoring with four goals and nine assists for 13 points in 21 games this season. In league play she has five assists.
Vermont is 7-19-2 all-time against the Huskies. However over the last three seasons under Coach Plumer the Catamounts are 6-1-0 against UConn.
The Catamounts beat the Huskies 6-0 at Gutterson Fieldhouse on November 2.
