BURLINGTON, Vt. – Several Catamounts performed well at the U.S. Cross Country Championships in Houghton, Michigan to earn selections to the World Junior and World U23 Championships. Both events will be held in Rasnov, Romania from February 22-28.

Henry Harmeyer have earned spots on the U.S. World Junior Team, while
Cole Morgan was selected to the U23 squad.
Alayna Sonnesyn was also selected to the World Junior women's team, but declined the spot to focus on the EISA/NCAA season.
Brown, a sophomore from Durango, Colorado, competed in four races as a rookie at Vermont last season. At the national championships he was third among the juniors in the 15K classic race, finished fourth overall in the 10K freestyle race and was ninth in the freestyle sprint.
Harmeyer, a freshman from nearby South Burlington, Vermont, posted a third place finish in the freestyle sprint, while also finishing ninth in the 15K classic and 15th in the mass start freestyle.
Morgan, a senior from Bozeman, Montana, was second in the classic sprint among the U23 division and was sixth 30K freestyle event. He posted six top-15 finishes last season, competing in every EISA race for the Catamounts.
Sonneysn, a sophomore from Plymouth, Minnesota, finished third in the 10K classic and sixth in the freestyle sprint. She was runner-up among the juniors and fourth in the U23 in the 20K mass start freestyle race. Sonneysn was the EISA Rookie of the Year last season and a member of UVM's NCAA squad.
CATAMOUNT ALUMNI WIN FOUR NATIONAL TITLES Vermont alums won four national titles at the U.S. Cross Country Championships. Caitlin Patterson '12 took first in the 10K classic and 20K freestyle races, while also placing third and earning a podium spot in the freestyle sprint race.
Patterson's brother Scott (Class of 2014) won the 15K classic race and Jennie Bender '10 captured the national title in the freestyle sprint race.
The Vermont ski team begins its EISA season on Friday and Saturday at the Bates Carnival. The Nordic races will be held at Quarry Road in Waterville, Maine. The Nordic portion of the UVM Carnival at Trapp Family Lodge in Stowe, Vermont is scheduled for February 6-7.
