BURLINGTON, Vt. – Seven University of Vermont skiers were named to the National Collegiate All-Academic Ski Team. The selections were announced during the NCAA Ski Championships in Steamboat Springs, Colorado by the United States Collegiate Ski Coaches Association (USCSCA).
Three skiers from the alpine squad –
Gaby Coulet,
Will St. Germain and
Elise Tefre, earned the honor. Additionally, four members of the Nordic team were lauded –
Jorgen Grav,
Stephanie Kirk,
Cole Morgan and
Remi Salacroup.
The squad is one of the most difficult academic teams of its kind nationally. To make the team student-athletes must maintain a cumulative 3.5 grade point average in the classroom and have competed in one of the three NCAA Regional competitions.
The 29 colleges and universities come from one of three conferences nationally, the Eastern Intercollegiate Ski Association (EISA), the Central Collegiate Ski Association (CCSA) or the Rocky Mountain Intercollegiate Ski Association (RMISA).
All institutions that sponsor varsity skiing as part of the NCAA are members in one of those three conferences. Those conferences do have associate members who have teams that are not NCAA-affiliated and student-athletes at those institutions are eligible for the National Collegiate All-Academic Ski Team.
