Kirk, an exercise and movement science major, owns a 3.99 GPA at Vermont. She was the only skier among the 11 student-athletes named to the squad. Her name will be placed on the national ballot as a nominee for Academic All-America honors.
Kirk, a native of Anchorage, Alaska, helped the Catamounts win their fifth straight EISA Championship this season. She was named to the 2016 EISA All-East Second Team after competing in every race on the circuit and posting eight too-10 finishes. She was a three-time All-East performer during her career.
A winner of UVM's Wasson Award as the top scholar-athlete among the second class handed out earlier this month, she was also a four-time National Collegiate All-Academic Team member. The squad is one of the toughest academic teams to make in the country as skiers need a GPA of 3.5 or higher and must have competed in an NCAA regional to be eligible.
In 2015, Kirk was the winner of the NCAA Elite 90 award for skiing, which is presented to the student-athlete with the highest cumulative grade-point average participating in the finals site for each of the NCAA's championships.
NOTE: Kirk's honor marks the 17th straight year a UVM student-athlete has garnered at least Academic All-District honors.
