VERMONT WOMEN'S HOCKEY NOTEBOOKThe Vermont women's hockey team (8-23-23, 6-15-3 HEA) has earned the No. 6 seed in the Hockey East playoffs and will travel to face the No. 3 seed Boston University (20-12-2, 17-5-2 HEA) in the quarterfinals.
Vermont will travel to Walter Brown Arena in Boston, Mass. to face-off against the Terriers. The best-of-three series opens on Friday, Feb. 26 at 7 p.m., with the second game set for Saturday, Feb. 27 at 3 p.m. If a third game is required, it will be played on Sunday, Feb. 28 at 3 p.m.
Tickets for the games will be $6 for the general public. Fans can call 1-617-353-4628 to reserve their tickets now. The ticket office at Walter Brown Arena opens one hour before each game and tickets will be available at the windows.

Dayna Colang is leading the Catamounts in scoring for the second straight season. This year she has 11 goals and 16 assists for 27 points in 34 games. In her career at Vermont she now has 96 total points which ranks third all-time behind
Brittany Zuback (97) and
Amanda Pelkey (105). In all eight of the Catamounts wins this season she has registered at least a point.
THIRD PERIODS ARE THE CATAMOUNTS BEST IN LEAGUEIn Hockey East play this season Vermont has scored 48.9% of its goals in the third period. The Catamounts 23 third period tallies are the fourth most of any team in league play behind No. 6 Northeastern (37), No. 1 Boston College (38) and Boston University (33). When tied or ahead this season after the second period Vermont is 6-2-2.
SPECIAL TEAMS SUCCESS IN LEAGUE PLAYVermont's power play and penalty kill efforts have been impactful in Hockey East contests. The Catamounts power play is 14-for-78 in league play good for 17.9%, which is third in Hockey East behind No. 1 Boston College and No. 6 Northeastern. 14 of Vermont's 15 power play goals have come in league play. Vermont's penalty kill efforts in league play have been successful 83.8% of the time, which is also third in the league behind BC and Northeastern.
SCOUTING THE OPPONENTBoston University: The Terriers have won four straight Hockey East tournament titles and five of the last six. Head Coach Brian Durocher is the winningest coach in Hockey East tournament history with a record of 17-3.
Last season the Terriers swept Vermont in the quarterfinals by a combined score of 15-3. Boston University is 7-0 all-time in the quarterfinal round. Senior forward Kayla Tutino is second all-time in Hockey East tournament scoring with 15 career points.
Sophomore forwards Rebecca Leslie and Victoria Bach are tied for the team lead in scoring with 43 points in 34 games this season. Bach is on a four-game point streak entering this weekend with eights points.
Erin O'Neil and Victora Hanson have split time in the Terriers' net this season. Both goaltenders won 75% of the league games they played. O'Neil was 1-0-1 against Vermont while Hanson was 1-0-0.
The Terriers defeated Vermont at Walter Brown Arena 5-2 on October 25, junior forward Maddie Elia led the way with three points. On January 16
Taylor Willard scored two power play goals as Vermont skated to a 3-3 tie with the Terriers at Gutterson Fieldhouse. On January 17 Boston University scored three third period goals on the way to a 6-2 win.
The Terriers lead the all-time series against Vermont with a record of 26-5-4. Three of the Catamounts five wins against the Terriers have come under Coach Plumer.
COLANG SET TO ESTABLISH NEW UVM RECORD FOR GAMES PLAYEDDayna Colang has skated in 137 of the 139 games for Vermont over the last four years. She is now tied for the program record of games played with
Brittany Zuback (2011-15). The Catamounts are guaranteed at least two more games this weekend in the quarterfinals and Colang will hold the record.
VERMONT PLAYOFF HISTORYThis season the Catamounts will be making their fourth consecutive Hockey East quarterfinal appearance under head coach
Jim Plumer. Last year Vermont was swept by Boston University in the quarterfinals as the seven-seed.
In 2014 Vermont won its first-ever playoff game in triple overtime over Maine 3-2 to advance to the semifinals for the first time. The Catamounts fell in the semifinals against Boston College 3-1.
In 2013 Vermont made its first Division I playoff appearance facing Northeastern in the quarterfinals. Vermont held a 1-0 lead after the first period but fell 5-1.
As a Division III school the Catamounts qualified for the ECAC quarterfinals twice in consecutive seasons ('99-'00, '00-'01).
In 2001 the Catamounts led by first team All-American Tiffany Hayes finished second in ECAC with a record of 14-2-2. Vermont was upset in the quarterfinals at home by Colgate 2-1 in triple overtime.
In 2000 the Catamounts lost to RPI 3-1 at Gutterson Fieldhouse, in the program's first-ever postseason appearance.
Only eight Catamounts have scored in the teams' playoff history including

KAYLA KRUK JOINS WOMEN'S HOCKEY THROUGH TEAM IMPACTThe women's hockey team officially drafted seven-year-old Shelburne, Vt. native Kayla Kruk through Team IMPACT. Kayla celebrated her draft day with the Catamounts last Saturday in a ceremony facilitated by the 501(c)(3) non-profit, Team IMPACT, whose mission is to improve the quality of life for children facing life-threatening and chronic illnesses through the power of team.

ALL ACROSS THE MAPThe Catamounts have players from 10 different states (Alaska, California, Florida, Illinois, Maine, Massachusetts, New York, Pennsylvania, South Carolina and Vermont), two Canadian provinces (Alberta and Ontario) and two other countries (Czech Republic and Finland). Vermont has four players from Ontario more than any other state or province.
CATAMOUNTS PACK THE GUT ONCE AGAINOn Friday January 29 the Catamounts hosted Connecticut in front of 1,662 fans as a part of the third annual Pack The Gut Challenge Presented by the Windjammer. The 1,662 fans were the second-most in UVM program history and the made-up the third largest regular season crowd in Hockey East history.
