CATAMOUNTS RECAP
Vermont hosts BC following two road draws against the Eagles' Commonwealth Ave. rival, Boston University. Last Saturday (Jan. 14), the Catamounts grabbed a 3-1 lead with less than five minutes in regulation, but then-No. 10 BU answered with late tallies off the sticks of Sammy Davis and Victoria Bach to set up a 3-3 final score. Melissa Black notched 33 stops on the day.

On Sunday (Jan. 15), Ève-Audrey Picard scored her ninth goal of the season and Madison Litchfield made 28 saves as UVM skated to another tie, this time a 1-1 outcome. After the Terriers lit the lamp just 54 seconds into the game, Litchfield turned aside each of her opponent's 28 subsequent shots, helped in part by a first period defensive effort that allowed only three attempts after the early goal.

SCOUTING BOSTON COLLEGE
Ranked sixth in both the USCHO and USA Today polls this week, Boston College (16-3-4, 12-2-2 WHEA) sits atop Hockey East after sweeping a home-and-home with Merrimack last weekend. The Eagles are unbeaten in their last 11 games, which stands as the longest active streak in the conference and second in the country only to Clarkson (18).

Four Eagles boast point totals in excess of 20, including freshmen Delaney Belinskas (13-10-23) and Caitrin Lonergan (9-13-22). Junior Katie Burt (1.62 GAA) has seen the majority of time in goal and owns the Hockey East record for career shutouts in league contests (19). Collectively, the squad averages 3.57 goals per game.

At the helm since 2007 and associated with BC since 2004, head coach Katie Crowley has led her team to five Frozen Fours, which includes a national runner-up finish in 2016. She starred in hockey and softball at Brown, graduating in 1997.

INSIDE THE SERIES
Boston College is the only Hockey East team the Catamounts have not defeated during head coach Jim Plumer's tenure in Burlington. UVM's last win in the series came on Nov. 7, 2009 when the Catamounts buried four power play goals and had a four-point effort by the line of Celeste Doucet, Erin Barley-Maloney and Teddy Fortin in a 5-1 decision at Kelley Rink. Goalie Kristen Olychuck made 24 saves.

UVM's other two wins against the Eagles were early on in the team's Division I tenure, snagging a 3-2 overtime result on Oct. 18, 2002, which preceded a 3-1 victory on Oct. 30, 2003.

CATAMOUNTS FEATURED BY USCHO
USCHO columnist Nicole Haase profiled the Catamounts this week, discussing the team's recent success and the steps taken to reach its current stage. Click here to read the story.

PLUMER FEATURED ON 101.3 ESPN RADIO
Earlier this week, Coach Plumer was welcomed on "The Huddle with Rich & Arnie" on 101.3 ESPN Radio. The trio spoke about UVM's upcoming schedule, Pack The Gut and more. Click here for the full interview.

CATS AND DOGS
With last weekend's ties on the books, UVM sealed a 1-0-2 record against BU in this year's regular season series. It is the second time under Coach Plumer that the Catamounts have won the series and first time in program history that the Green and Gold went undefeated against the Terriers in the regular season.

ON A ROLL
Currently on one of its hottest runs in recent memory, the Catamounts are undefeated in 13 of their last 15 games dating back to a Nov. 13 tie at Providence. Since then, UVM has lost just once in regulation and has earned six points against ranked Hockey East teams.

Specifically in regulation, Vermont is undefeated in its last 10 games, stringing together its longest stretch of the program's Division I era (since the 2001-02 season). That surpassed a seven-game run from Feb. 2-March 1, 2014 in which the Catamounts rattled off seven straight wins.

LITCHFIELD IN THE RECORD BOOK
Madison Litchfield received the win in goal on Sunday, Jan. 8, notching the 27th victory of her career to enter a tie with former Catamount goaltender Roxanne Douville (2010-14) for the Division I program record in that category. Only Tiffany Hayes sits ahead of her for the all-time program lead, gathering 28 wins from 1999-2003, during which UVM elevated to Division I competition.

A local product from Williston, Vermont, Litchfield also has registered 1929 saves donning the Green and Gold, which stands fourth all-time. She boasts a .945 save percentage which ranks fifth in the country to go in hand with her 1.43 goals against average, sitting fourth across Division I. Both figures lead Hockey East.

PRETTY SPECIAL IF YOU ASK US
Vermont has enjoyed recent success on special teams, particularly with its penalty killing unit. Catamount opponents have netted just eight goals on 96 power play opportunities, putting UVM at 91.7 percent on the kill, boasting the third best unit in the land. Only St. Lawrence (92.4 percent) and BC (91.9 percent) are ahead of UVM.

That presents a particularly interesting matchup this weekend for the Catamounts as BC's power play (26.4 percent) sits second to Minnesota for the national lead.

NEXT UP
UConn is on deck for Vermont, which heads down Interstate 91 to Storrs next weekend. The Catamounts will battle the Huskies at 7 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 27 before concluding the series at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 28.
