UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. and DURHAM, N.H. – Vermont's
Chris Gish was third in the 3000 meter run (8:26.29) and
Katie Nolan took second in the 1000 meter with a time of 2:56.64 Saturday on the final day of the Penn State National Open.
UVM also competed at UNH, where both the Catamount men (69) and women (68) finished third in the respective four-team fields.

At Penn State,
Lauren Trumble posted a first place finish in her 800 meter heat with a time of 2:16.30, ultimately finishing eighth overall.
Allen Vance took fifth in the 800 meter (1:54.57) and
Cassie Roberge turned in a top-15 performance in the triple jump (11.16m).
Back in New England, the Catamounts totaled six wins between the men's and women's sides.
Ahmed Noor took the 55 meter (6.65),
John Benner claimed the 1000 meter (2:33.51) and
Dan DeBlieck tabbed first in the 55 meter hurdles (7.99). In addition, UVM's 4x800 team of Benner,
Aaron Lucci,
Paul Moore and
Gavin Schmeck grabbed the title with a mark of 8:14.80.
Elsewhere around the track Lucci competed in the mile, finishing second (4:23.86).
Jack Carmody rounded up third in the 3000 meter (8:45.84) and Schmeck was fourth in the mile (4:27.53).
In the field
Alex Parasky won the triple jump (12.62m), adding to a fourth place performance in the long jump (5.91m).
Will Lynch was fourth in the high jump (1.85m) and
Tim Yandow turned in fifth in the pole vault (3.95m).
On the women's side it was
Morgan Nerud who came away victorious in the 1000 meter with a time of 3:06.46.
Laura Dissly had nearly a minute of padding en route to the 3000 meter title (10:35.07). A pair of top-3 efforts were seen in the 55 meter hurdles as
Julia Nugent (8.86) and
Alex May Curtis (9.10) were second and third, respectively.
Taylor Rosenblum was fourth in the 55 meter (7.79) and
Maggie Hallahan earned fifth in the mile (5:14.28).
Vermont was second in both the 4x400 and 4x800 relays as Curtis, Nugent,
Jessica Cartier and
Ali Belash combined for a 4:15.28 mark in the former. In the 4x800,
Samantha Sayer, Nerud, Hallahan and
Julie Richer put together a time of 10:08.66.
In the shot put,
Sydney Kurtic grabbed third place with an 11.99m mark and Rosenblum finished fourth in the long jump (4.69m).
UVM's
Ed Simon also competed unattached at Penn State in the pole vault, finishing third (4.65m).
The Dartmouth Indoor Classic sits on deck for the Catamounts next Saturday, Feb. 4.
