LAST TIME OUT | Binghamton Highlights
Brooke Jenkins scored what proved to be the game-winner with just eight minutes remaining to lift Vermont to a 1-0 win over No. 2 Binghamton in the America East Semifinals last Sunday.
Savana Yurick collected a
Taylor Palmer pass down the left flank and dribbled towards goal. Yurick played a low ball across the box, Palmer was taken out trying to one-time the pass leaving Jenkins wide open on the back side. She sent a hard drive past Bearcat keeper Katie Hatziyianis and into the net.
FOR THE WIN!
Jenkins has provided game-winning heroics three times this season. Her three-game-winners, including back-to-back in the America East Quarterfinal and Semifinal, are the most by a Catamount since Amy Cochran in 2005.
FIRST EVER 5-6 TITLE GAME
For the first time in America East history, the women's soccer title will be decided between the No. 5 and No. 6 seeds in the tournament. Vermont is only the second sixth-seeded team to earn a spot in the America East Championship game, joining Maine back in 2010.
ALL-TIME COACHING WINS LIST
Head coach
Kristi Lefebvre has moved into sole possession of second place on the program's all-time coaching wins list with 42 victories. In her first season at the helm in 2011, the Catamounts earned a berth into the America East Tournament for the first time in five years and she has guided the Green and Gold to four semifinals appearances during her time in Burlington – the most by a Vermont head coach.
AMERICA EAST POSTSEASON HONORS
The 2017 America East Women's Soccer Annual Awards were handed out on Oct. 25. The Catamounts were represented by
Sarah Martin on the All-Conference First Team, Jenkins made the All-Conference Second Team and All-Academic Team, and
Ella Bankert was honored with an All-Rookie Team nod. Read the full story by

SCOUTING STONY BROOK
Like the Catamounts, the Seawolves earned an appearance in the conference title game by way of the upset. Stony Brook took down fourth-seeded Hartford 2-0 in the quarterfinal round last Thursday before knocking off top-seeded New Hampshire 1-0 in the semifinal round on Sunday. Freshman forward Alyssa Francese, an All-Rookie Team selection, leads the team in scoring with 17 points (8 goals, 1 assist). Freshman goalie Sofia Manner was named Rookie of the Year after allowing only 15 goals in 17 games. In league play, she surrendered just five goals and recorded the second-best goals-against average at 0.68.
REVISITING LAST YEAR'S AMERICA EAST QUARTERFINAL
Sunday's duel will be a rematch of last year's America East Quarterfinal when sixth-seeded Vermont advanced past third-seeded Stony Brook by winning the penalty kick battle 3-1.
The upset marked the first time since 2012 where a No. 6 seeded team knocked off a No. 3 seeded team in in the America East Tournament.
Coco Speckmaier made a clutch save in the second round of penalty kicks that was later voted as the America East Women's Soccer Save of the Year.
NCAA TOURNAMENT
The winner of the 2017 America East Women's Soccer Championship will earn the conference's automatic bid into the NCAA Tournament. The 64-team bracket will be announced on Monday (Nov. 6) with the first-round games getting underway from Nov. 10-12.
