WOMEN'S HOCKEY NOTEBOOK
The University of Vermont (5-10-2, 3-6-1 HEA) will play two games at Alfond Arena against the University of Maine (10-6-2, 4-3-1 HEA) this weekend. The Hockey East series begins with a 12 p.m. game on Saturday (Dec. 2) followed by a 2 p.m. game on Sunday (Dec. 3).

TOYS FOR TOTS
UVM Athletics will have Toys for Tots boxes at all home games until Dec. 15 to collect new and unwrapped toys to be donated to local families in need this holiday season. The Toys for Tots drive is presented by TD Bank. Fans can make donations at the marketing table. Last year, the local Toys for Tots program served over 1,700 families, providing toys to over 5,000 children in the greater Champlain Valley area.

At last weekend's Windjammer Classic, the Vermont Catamounts faced RIT in the first round of the tournament. They played the Tigers to a 1-1 tie through 65 minutes, and won the ensuing shootout 1-0 with a goal from defenseman
Taylor Willard. While officially recorded as a tie, the Catamounts advanced to the championship game with the shootout victory.

Facing a Minnesota Duluth team that beat second-ranked Colgate the previous afternoon, the Catamounts entered the third period trailing 1-0. Freshman
Olivia Kilberg tied the game after depositing a
Kourtney Menches rebound into the back of the net, but with 1:38 remaining, the Bulldogs scored on the power play to take the late lead and held on to take the Windjammer Classic.

SCOUTING MAINE
The Maine Black Bears enter the weekend sitting fifth in the Hockey East standings with nine points in eight games, having a 5-1-2 record in the past eight games, and picking up seven conference points in the process.Â

Sophomore Tereza Vanišová leads the team with 26 points through 18 games, and sits 12th in the country in points per game. Joining her in double figures is senior Stacey Brooke, freshman Michelle Weis, and sophomore Vendula Pribylova.

Sophomore Carly Jackson has played the majority of minutes between the pipes, and holds a .920 save percentage and a ranks fourth in Hockey East with a 2.01 goals against average.

PLUMER APPROACHES HISTORY

Jim Plumer needs just one win to pass Dennis Miller (1996-2006) for most wins in program history. Plumer currently sits tied at the top with 70 wins. Since arriving to Burlington prior to the 2012-13 season, Plumer has broken the previous single-season wins total three times.

NEXT UP
Maine visits Gutterson Fieldhouse for a single game at 2 p.m. next Saturday, Dec. 9. It is the final Hockey East game for each team until after the new year. At the end of the month, Vermont travels north to the 50th Annual Theresa Humes Tournament, hosted by Concordia University. Team China and Ryerson University join Vermont and host Concordia to round out the field.

Vermont plays Team China in the tournament's first game on Dec. 29, then face host Concordia on Dec. 30 before closing out the weekend on Dec. 31 with a game against Ryerson.
