The University of Vermont (5-11-3, 3-7-2 HEA) hosts the University of Maine (11-6-3, 5-3-2 HEA) at 2 p.m. on Saturday (Dec. 9) at Gutterson Fieldhouse. It is the third consecutive game played between the Catamounts and Black Bears.

TOYS FOR TOTS
UVM Athletics will have Toys for Tots boxes at all home games until Dec. 15 to collect new and unwrapped toys to be donated to local families in need this holiday season. The Toys for Tots drive is presented by TD Bank. Fans can make donations at the marketing table. Last year, the local Toys for Tots program served over 1,700 families, providing toys to over 5,000 children in the greater Champlain Valley area.

MAINE RECAP
Vermont returned from Orono, Maine last weekend with one point, losing 2-0 on Saturday afternoon before tying the Black Bears 2-2 on Sunday afternoon.

In Saturday's game,
Sydney Scobee made 30 saves for the Catamounts in the loss. Maine nearly held a 2-1 advantage in shots, finishing the game with a 32-17 edge. Tereza Vanišová scored in the first period and added an assist in the second for a pair of points. Brooke Stacey assisted on both Maine goals.

On Sunday, the Catamounts took the early lead when
Kourtney Menches netted her second of the season with
Val Caldwell and
Olivia Kilberg picking up assists.
Taylor Willard scored the second Vermont goal halfway through the third period for a 2-1 lead, but Maine tied the game with just over four minutes to play on a goal from Stacey

The second game ended in a 2-2 tie, with Scobee making 37 saves compared to 15 saves from Maine's Carly Jackson. Stacey and Vanišová each had four points in the pair of games.

SCOUTING MAINE
The Maine Black Bears enter the weekend with 12 points and sit fifth in Hockey East standings, a single point behind both New Hampshire and Northeastern.

After four points last weekend, Vanišová has 30 on the season and sits 12th in the NCAA in points per game (1.58). Stacey is second on the team in scoring with 19 points. Joining the two leaders in double figures are Michelle Weis (12), Vendula Pribylova (11), and Brittany Kucera (10).

Carly Jackson has played the majority of minutes between the pipes, and sits second in the conference and 11th nationally with a 1.89 goals against average. Her .922 save percentage places her ninth in Hockey East and 24th nationally.

PLUMER APPROACHES HISTORY

Jim Plumer needs just one win to pass Dennis Miller (1996-2006) for most wins in program history. Plumer currently sits tied at the top with 70 wins. Since arriving to Burlington prior to the 2012-13 season, Plumer has broken the previous single-season wins total three times.

Vermont travels north to the 50th Annual Theresa Humes Tournament, hosted by Concordia University. Vermont and Concordia are joined by Guelph University, McGill University, Ryerson University, and Les Étoiles.

Vermont takes on Ryerson to open the tournament on Dec. 29, and plays Guelph the following day. On Dec. 31, the Catamounts take on host Concordia to close out the tournament.
