BOSTON – The Vermont women's track & field team is currently third in the team standings (36 points) while the men's squad sits sixth (13 points) after day one of the America East Indoor Track & Field Championships at the Boston University Track & Tennis Center.

On the women's side, senior 
Mallory Honan nabbed second place and secured eight points for the Catamounts in the long jump, turning in a 5.79m mark, which was just short of her season-best 5.80m performance earlier in February at the Dartmouth Indoor Classic. Classmate 
Grace Weisbecker added eight points of her own after taking second in the pole vault (3.80m), going back-and-forth with Sarah Haley of Binghamton.
 
Elsewhere in the field, 
Morgan Ferland took seventh in the weight throw (15.27m).
 
In the 5000 meter Vermont sophomore 
Autumn Albrecht took third (17:01.80), narrowly edging junior 
Anna Kaplan who finished fourth (17:01.84). Both were PRs and are the second and third-best times in that event this season in America East. In addition to being ECAC-qualifying times, they also stand as the fourth and fifth-best in Vermont indoor history. Albrecht and Kaplan combined for 11 points Friday.
 
UVM managed a third place finish in the distance medley relay as freshmen 
Sunny Nagpaul, 
Julia Nugent, 
Morgan Nerud and 
Maggie Hallahan turned in a collective mark of 12:09.12, collecting six points.
 
The men's 60 meter hurdle preliminaries were witness to an 8.45-second finish for freshman 
Dan DeBlieck, who took second in his heat and fourth overall, sealing a spot in Saturday's finals. Senior 
Romario Bailey did the same in the 60 meter dash preliminaries, clocking in third in his heat (7.03) and seventh overall.
 
Senior 
Ian Weider snagged second place in the long jump (7.05m) and added eight points for the Catamounts.
 
The second and final day of the meet begins at 10 a.m. on Saturday (Feb. 25) from the BU Track & Tennis Center.
