CATAMOUNTS RECAP
Vermont meets Providence on the heels of a record-setting weekend against New Hampshire on February 3 and 4. In the series opener with the Wildcats last Friday (Feb. 3), UVM successfully broke its own Women's Hockey East single-game attendance record with a turnout of 2,136 fans at Gutterson Fieldhouse. That game, which finished in a 3-3 tie, was played in conjunction with the 4th annual Pack The Gut Challenge presented by The Windjammer Restaurant and Upper Deck Pub. The previous record of 2,028 was set at Vermont's inaugural Pack The Gut in 2013.

Friday's matchup was witness to a 3-1 Vermont lead before the Wildcats stormed back with a pair in the third period. The following afternoon (Feb. 4), Katherine Pate opened the scoring with her first collegiate goal and the Catamounts never looked back en route to a 3-1 win. That day, Madison Litchfield registered a season-high 37 saves to earn her program-record 29th career victory.

SCOUTING PROVIDENCE
With 20 points, the Friars (14-14-2, 9-9-2 WHEA) are in a three-way tie for fourth place in the league, currently sharing the position with Boston University and New Hampshire. The team was dealt a pair of setbacks last weekend, falling 4-3 in overtime at Northeastern (Feb. 3) before a comeback effort against UConn came up short in a 2-1 decision (Feb. 5).

Senior Cassidy Carels has amassed 29 points on 16 goals and 13 assists, while junior Brooke Boquist follows close behind in pacing the offense with a 17-10-27 mark. As a team, the Friars are averaging 3.27 goals per game (third in Hockey East), which presents an interesting statistical matchup given that Vermont's scoring defense is second in the leage (2.10).

Between the pipes, Providence has been guided largely in part by sophomore Madison Myers, who has compiled a 2.78 goals against average and two shutouts. She made 30 saves in Vermont's weekend finale in Rhode Island on November 13 in a game that finished in a 1-1 draw.

SCOUTING BOSTON COLLEGE
With the Hockey East regular season title now locked up for the fourth consecutive season, BC (21-3-5, 15-2-3 WHEA) is ranked sixth this week in both the USCHO and USA Today Division I polls. The Eagles are also undefeated in their last 17 games (14-0-3), which is the longest active streak in the country ahead of Wisconsin (12).

Sophomore Makenna Newkirk has racked up 36 points on 13 goals and 23 assists, inking the scoresheet in 12 of her last 14 games dating back to November 26. She has been a key part of the Eagles' power play unit with six goals on the advantage, sitting in a tie for second nationally in that category. Freshman Delaney Belinskas has lit the lamp a team-best 14 times while also dishing out 13 helpers. In goal, junior Katie Burt continues to hold down the fort with a 1.63 GAA to go with five shutouts on the season. The latter figure also includes a league-leading four clean sheets in conference play.

Most recently, the Eagles took a 2-1 decision from Northeastern on Tuesday night (Feb. 7) in the Beanpot Championship. Third period goals by Kristyn Capizzano and Erin Connolly lifted BC over the Huskies after NU snagged an initial 1-0 lead.

INSIDE THE SERIES
Although the Friars hold a historical advantage against Vermont, UVM has had several strong performances of late against its rival from the Ocean State. The Catamounts are 8-2-1 in their last 11 meetings against Providence, including sweeps of the season series in 2013-14 and 2014-15. Vermont's last win in the series came on Nov. 14, 2015 in Burlington. UVM used goals from Bridget Baker and Bella Webster to battle back from a 3-1 deficit in the third period, then sent the fans home happy when Taylor Willard snuck home a power play goal with 3.2 seconds to play. Molly Depew made 14 saves on the day and the Catamounts went 3-for-4 on the penalty kill.

Vermont's last win against BC came on Nov. 7, 2009 when the Catamounts buried four power play goals and had a four-point effort by the line of Celeste Doucet, Erin Barley-Maloney and Teddy Fortin in a 5-1 decision at Kelley Rink. Goalie Kristen Olychuck made 24 saves. UVM's other two wins against the Eagles were early on in the team's Division I tenure, snagging a 3-2 overtime result on Oct. 18, 2002, which preceded a 3-1 victory on Oct. 30, 2003.

LAST TIME AROUND
The Green and Gold have faced both Providence and Boston College twice already this season, having picked up a point in the standings against the Friars in November. On November 13, Bridget Baker scored in the early stages of the second period to counter a Friars goal in the opening frame as the sides skated to a 1-1 result. The draw came following a 5-2 setback on November 12.

Vemont nearly came away with a win over BC at Gutterson Fieldhouse on January 20, jumping out to a 2-0 lead on the Eagles and bringing a 2-1 advantage into the final minute of regulation. However, BC forced overtime with an extra-attacker goal and ultimately came away with the victory just 39 seconds in the overtime period. The Eagles then followed up with a 3-0 decision on January 21.

KOLOWRAT TO REPRESENT CZECH REPUBLIC
Sophomore defenseman Sammy Kolowrat has been named to the Czech Republic National Team which will be competing beginning Thursday (Feb. 9) as part of Group C in Women's Olympic Qualifying action. A Prague native, Kolowrat is one of four Hockey East players representing the Czech Republic. Vendula Pribylová and Tereza Vanišová, both of Maine, will join Kolowrat for the weekend in Arosa, Switzerland as well as Northeastern's Denisa Krížová.

The Czechs will open the round-robin qualifier against Norway at 2 p.m. Eastern Time on Thursday. From there, the team will face Denmark at 2 p.m. Eastern on Saturday (Feb. 11) and Switzerland at 10 a.m. Eastern on Sunday (Feb. 12).

COMING TO YOUR 'ADE'
Senior defenseman Rachael Ade logged points in each game of the New Hampshire series last weekend, including a pair of assists to open the pair on Friday. Her two helpers came in a span of just 48 seconds. On Saturday, the Davenport, Florida product gave the Catamounts a 2-0 lead in the middle stanza with what ultimately was the game-winning goal.

Ade's night on Friday marked her second multi-point game of the season and fourth of her career.

I'M HAVIN' A RECORD YEAR
Senior and native Vermonter Madison Litchfield made UVM history last Saturday (Feb. 4), as the Williston product inked her 29th career win with the Green and Gold to gain sole possession of first place in that category in program history. The victory lifted her past Tiffany Hayes (1999-2003), who recorded 28 during her time in Burlington.

On January 27, Litchfield earned her 28th career win to surpass former teammate Roxanne Douville for the top spot in the Division I era (since 2001) of UVM women's hockey. With 2,045 saves in her career, she ranks fourth all-time behind Douville, who turned aside 2,956 pucks from 2010-14.

PLAYING YOUR CARDS RIGHT
Freshman Ève-Audrey Picard continues to serve as one of several offensive spark plugs for the Catamounts, boasting an 11-10-21 line on the season. She ranks seventh among Hockey East rookies with 0.70 points per game and sits in share of sixth in the same category (0.70) specifically in conference play.

With two goals and two helpers, the native of Longueuil, Quebec has marked the scoresheet in three of her last four games.

CATAMOUNTS FEATURED BY USCHO
USCHO columnist Nicole Haase profiled the Catamounts recently, discussing the team's success of late and the steps taken to reach its current stage. Click here to read the story.

CATS AND DOGS
After coming away with two draws over the weekend of January 14-15, UVM sealed a 1-0-2 record against Boston University in this year's regular season series. It is the second time under head coach Jim Plumer that the Catamounts have won the series and first time in program history that the Green and Gold went undefeated against the Terriers in the regular season.

NEXT UP
Vermont closes out the regular season next Friday and Saturday (Feb. 17-18) with a series against Merrimack at Gutterson Fieldhouse. Friday's game begins at 7 p.m., while Saturday's Senior Day tilt has opening faceoff set for 4 p.m.

Fans are also encouraged to wear pink to Satuday's game as the Catamounts host their annual Skating Strides Rally Against Cancer Game presented by Otter Creek Awnings and Vermont Custom Closets. UVM will sport special pink jerseys to mark the occasion. In addition, the Bertagna Trophy, awarded to the Women's Hockey East Tournament Champion, will be in Burlington and fans are encouraged to take photos with the trophy.
