SENIOR DAY PRESENTED BY THE UVM ALUMNI ASSOCIATION
Sunday's conference matchup is Senior Day presented by the UVM Alumni Association. Before the game, the Catamounts will honor their four seniors -
Casey Garfinkel,
Anna Keimel,
Aly Spencer, and
Savana Yurick with a Senior Day ceremony. The Class of 2019 is the second graduating class to play in an America East Championship Game (Class of 2018) and fourth class to earn three consecutive conference tournament berths (Class of 2014, 2015, and 2018).
RALLY AGAINST CANCER PRESENTED BY VERMONT CUSTOM CLOSETS
The duel with UMBC is also UVM's annual Rally Against Cancer game presented by Vermont Custom Closets. The Catamounts will be wearing special lavender socks to show their support. New this year, the Rally Against Cancer games will be sporting a new color. In an effort to support and rally around all cancers the UVM Athletic Department, Vermont Custom Closets, and the UVM Cancer Center have decided to change the color from pink to lavender. Lavender is the universal color that represents all cancers. Fans are encouraged to wear lavender and support the efforts being made at the University of Vermont Cancer Center.
ALUMNI WEEKEND
UVM Athletics will host a hospitality tent behind the Virtue Stadium bleachers as we welcome alumni, parents and families back to campus. The tent will open one hour prior to the game and close after halftime. Vermont women's soccer alumnae who are interested in attending the game but are not registered for Alumni Weekend can request tickets by e-mailing
Victory.Club@uvm.edu by 5 p.m. on Friday (Oct. 5). Program alumnae are invited to join Athletic Director
Jeff Schulman '89 in the Founders Room (hospitality suite to the right at the top of the bleachers) during the game as well.
SCOUTING UMBC
The Retrievers are still searching for their first conference win of the season, but the group has faced a tough task to begin the league slate. UMBC has played three out of the top-four teams in this year's America East preseason rankings – preseason favorite New Hampshire, No. 3 Binghamton, and No. 4 Hartford. Christina Corbi and Danielle Fuentes hold a share of the team lead with seven points apiece. Corbi has scored three goals and dished out one assist. Fuentes has netted two goals and has been credited with a team-best three assists. In net, Leah Roth has recorded 34 saves and posted a 2.83 goals-against average.
INSIDE THE SERIES
Vermont has the upper hand on UMBC 8-5-3 in the all-time series. Prior to last year's 1-0 defeat in Baltimore, the Catamounts were unbeaten in the previous four meetings (3-1-0). Since 2011, the two rivals have played four double overtime games with three draws and the outcome has been decided by one goal or less in all eight contests.
