HANOVER, N.H. – The University of Vermont men's and women's track & field teams produced third-place finishes in the 50th Dartmouth Relays Saturday at Leverone Field House.
The Vermont men (52 pts.) finished behind the winning team Dartmouth (146 pts.) and Southern Connecticut State (142 pts.) The hosts also won the women's competition with 238.5 points, ahead of Southern Connecticut State (68 pts.) and the UVM women (61 pts.).

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Vermont women raced to a commanding victory in the 4x800m relay. The team of Phoebe Koski, Trumble, Caroline O'Shea, and Jane Leighton finished in a time of 9:30.91 that beat the second-place Dartmouth team by 22.2s. As a group, they earned a spot in the ECAC/IC4A Championship.
- Trumble's victory in the mile came in a thrilling finish as she eked out the runner-up by 0.29s for a time of 4:57.19.
- Benner finished second in the men's mile run with a personal-best time of 4:13.21.
- Will Juniper, Justin Liechty, Alex Parasky, and Seth Beard finished second in the 4x200m relay. Their time of 1:30.75 clipped the previous school record of 1:31.74 and missed first place by 1.35s.
- Justin Liechty (49.94s) took second place in the 400m dash, finishing 0.10s after the winner
- Sonia John, Julia Nugent, Mia Grasso, and Alex May Curtis placed third in the 4x200m relay with a time of 1:46.46.
- In the men's 4x800m relay, Luke Petela, Tyler Marshall, Neville Caulfield, and Benner finished in second place (7:57.55), 0.43s behind the winning tandem from American International College. They qualified as a group for the ECAC/IC4A Championship.
- Samantha Sayer (6th) and Konstanze Wendeln (7th) recorded times of 10:17.87 and 10:20.65 in the 3000m run.
- In the field events, Gorodentsev (long jump) and Marina Canon (pole vault) finished fifth in their respective competitions.

Vermont returns to action Saturday (Jan. 19) when they travel down Route 7 to Middlebury College for a meet with the host Panthers and the UAlbany Great Danes.
