"I've waited for moments like this and it belongs to everyone who helped me to get to this point," Alves said. "My teammates and coaches believed in me and my Catamount family will always have a special place in my heart. To everyone who has a dream – don't stop dreaming, believe, be patient, and enjoy what you do to get there."
The senior was a United Soccer Coaches (USC) All-Northeast Region First Team selection following a 24-point campaign in 2018. He was named the America East Striker of the Year and earned First Team All-Conference honors. He was the America East frontrunner with 83 shots, held a share of the league lead with 10 goals, and finished second with 24 points. Alves' 10 goals also ranked No. 35 nationally. Alves earned his second consecutive USC All-Northeast nod after making the Second Team as a junior.
After transferring from Dean College, Alves tallied 47 career points on 32 goals and nine assists in two years as a Catamount. He notched seven game-winning goals including four as a senior.
Alves is the second UVM player taken in the SuperDraft in the last three years. Former standout
Brian Wright '17 was selected by the New England Revolution with the 20th overall pick in the 2017 MLS SuperDraft. Alves is the 15th student-athlete in school history to sign a professional contract and first under head coach
