STRIKING A BALANCE
Vermont's offensive attack has come from multiple angles. A total of 10 different Catamounts have recorded at least one point.
Natalie Durieux leads the way with five points on two goals and one assist.
Ella Bankert and
Karen Wallace have matched Durieux with two goals apiece.
Frances O'Donnell adds to the three-way tie with four points on one goal and a team-best two assists.
BY THE NARROWEST OF MARGINS
In eight of UVM's 11 matches this year, the outcome was decided by just one goal. The eight one-goal decisions are tied with Hartford for the most by an America East team. Stony Brook and Maine follow with seven one-goal games while UAlbany and UMass Lowell round out the list with six.
CATS AGAINST GREATER D.C. AREA TEAMS
Dating back to the 2015 season, the Green and Gold have only suffered one loss against teams located near the nation's capital. Last season, UVM earned a 2-2 draw against American but cruised to a 3-0 win against UMBC at Virtue Field. In 2017, the Cats split matches against American and UMBC then played to a 1-1 draw versus UMBC in 2016. In 2015, Vermont beat UMBC twice including a 3-2 double overtime victory during the regular season.
SCOUTING UMBC
The Retrievers have struggled since the calendar flipped to September and are in the midst of a nine-game skid. Despite the challenges, UMBC has played better at home than on the road. The Retrievers have surrendered fewer goals (12) at Retriever Soccer Park than on the road (14). Offensively, UMBC has fired off the fifth-most shot attempts (147) in the league. Christina Corbi leads the way with four goals – currently tied for third in the league. Danielle Fuentes has added seven points to the attack with two goals and three assists. Goalie Jade Wilkins paces America East keepers with 67 saves and has registered a .744 save percentage.
INSIDE THE SERIES
Vermont has the upper hand in the all-time series with a 9-5-3 edge against UMBC. The Catamounts have only lost once in the last six meetings (4-1-1) with a pair of clean sheets. In last year's meeting, the Cats were fueled by the current senior tandem of
Brooke Jenkins and
Christina Barry. Jenkins netted two goals while Barry added the third goal.
