RALLY AROUND MENTAL HEALTH GAME
Sunday is UVM's annual Rally Around Mental Health (RAMH) Game, an initiative that was created to help increase awareness and reduce stigma surrounding mental health. Led by student-athletes, the Rally Around Mental Health Committee offers educational programming and activities to promote mental health, resources for seeking help, and supports ongoing conversations about mental health through designated RAMH games for each sport. Visit the marketing and promotions table on the Virtue Field concourse for more information.
COMMON OPPONENTS
The Catamounts and Wildcats have played five common opponents, including four during non-conference play – Sacred Heart, Merrimack, North Dakota State, and Army. The twin state programs both beat Sacred Heart and Army but UNH managed to get the upper hand against Merrimack. In conference play, Vermont and New Hampshire dropped its match versus Binghamton.
SCOUTING NEW HAMPSHIRE
The Wildcats make their way to Burlington with a 5-5-0 record and have won two out of their last three games. UNH leads the league in assists (15), fewest goals allowed (8), and team save percentage (.826). The offensive attack has come from all angles as 11 different Wildcats have recorded a point. Ally Reynolds and Whitney Wiley lead the pack with three goals apiece. Reynolds has racked up nine points and dished out three assists while Wiley sits in a close second with eight points and two assists. Reynolds and Kaylan Williams rank among the conference's best with three assists. Goalie Cat Sheppard stands second in America East with a 0.81 goals-against average and a .822 save percentage.
INSIDE THE SERIES
Despite trailing in the all-time series 16-20-5, the Catamounts have made a strong push to even the record in recent years. The twin state rivals played to a 2-2 draw in 2016 and Vermont earned a 2-0 clean sheet in Durham last season. The Cats will try to beat the Wildcats in Burlington for the first time since 2011.
RELIVING LAST YEAR'S UPSET IN DURHAM
The 2-0 shutout in Durham last October snapped a six-game winless streak against New Hampshire and ended a seven-year drought. UVM beat its conference rival on the road for the first time since 2002. Seniors
Casey Garfinkel and
Savana Yurick scored in the second half to help pull off the win.
