BURLINGTON, Vt. – The Vermont men's and women's track & field teams both registered their second victories of the season in front of fans in attendance for the North Country All-Comers Sunday afternoon at Gardner-Collins Indoor Track.
The UVM women had 97 points to secure the victory against the Plattsburgh State Cardinals (40 pts.), while the men recorded 80 points to beat the PSU men (56 pts.).
COACH'S QUOTE
"It was nice to be able to showcase some of our talent at home today," said head coach
Matt Belfield. It was a long weekend, but we sure had quite a few people ready to get after it. Our jumpers
Will Lynch and
Andy Chess certainly put themselves in good position heading into conference…monkeys off the back there for sure.
Anya Gorodentsev had another great day and
Morgan Ferland's big PR will help build some confidence too. On the track,
Konstanze Wendeln's win in the 3K was fantastic and
Lauren Trumble's 800m was very fast on our short track.
Dina John had a big breakthrough in the 800m today as well – thought it was a very good event for us today. Fine performances for the men in the 3K too, as
Liam Smith led a strong group of rookies to quality times."
"Thanks to those who came out today to watch, it means a lot to the team," Belfield added.
