SCOUTING THE CRUSADERS
Holy Cross enters the two-game weekend series with a 1-26-3 (1-22-1 WHEA) mark in the 30 games played in their inaugural Division I season. Rachel Moore leads the Crusaders with 13 points (6 goals, 7 assists) in her junior season. Rookie Carlie Magier has matched Moore's goal count and leads all Holy Cross freshmen with 11 points on the season. Julia Matthias also has 11 points and is tied with Moore in assists as a senior captain for the Crusaders. The expected goaltender for Holy Cross is Jada Brenon who has taken over the starting role with 61.2% of the minutes played in net. The Holy Cross freshman has posted a 3.94 GAA and .893 SV% in 18 starts for the Crusaders, which includes a 34-save victory over No. 5 Northeastern for the program's first Division I win.
INSIDE THE SERIES
The two-game series marks the third and fourth official meetings between the Catamounts and Holy Cross. The programs first met unofficially in 1998 when UVM took an 11-0 victory in the exhibition contest at Gutterson Fieldhouse. In 2001, the first official game between the Crusaders and Vermont was played; UVM skated to a 2-0 victory in Worcester, Massachusetts. The Cats visited Holy Cross earlier this month (Feb. 3) and registered a 2-1 win at Hart Center.
Alyssa Gorecki opened the scoring for Vermont and
Maude Poulin-Labelle netted the game-winning goal on a two-point day to earn Hockey East Rookie of the Week.

PLAYOFF PICTURE
Vermont currently sits three points out of the final playoff spot with three games left in the regular season. The Catamounts (15 pts.) trail the Maine Black Bears (18 pts.) who face off against No.8 Boston College for a two-game road series. Maine has the potential to lock up a spot in the postseason with a three-point weekend at BC, however, if the Catamounts earn at least one more point than them this weekend, the final playoff spot can come down to the last game of the regular season (Feb. 23) when the two teams meet in Orono.
