BOSTON – Four student-athletes from the Vermont track & field team earned America East All-Academic honors for the indoor season. The announcement was made Wednesday afternoon at league headquarters.
Seniors
Samantha Sayer and
Lauren Trumble were named to the women's All-Academic Team along with sophomore
Marina Cannon. Junior
Neville Caulfield was listed on the men's All-Academic Team.

It is the third time that Sayer has been named to the America East All-Academic Team in her career. She recently earned the honor after the completion of the 2018 cross country season and was named to the team in 2016. Sayer has also been a member of the Commissioner's Honor Roll since her freshman year. The Missoula, Montana native carries a 3.89 GPA as an Exercise and Movement Science major.
Trumble earns the honor for the second time in her career after first earning the award in November of 2018. The senior captain has also been a member of the America East Commissioner's Honor Roll since her freshman year. Trumble set an America East Championship record in the 1000m run with a blazing fast time of 2:45.36 and was named Most Outstanding Performer. A native of Ithaca, New York, Trumble has a 3.83 GPA as a Biology major.
As a sophomore, Cannon earns the honor for the first time in her career. She was a member of the America East Commissioner's Honor Roll last year. The Littleton, Colorado native finished second in the pole vault at the America East Championships and had the top mark of the season for the Catamounts with a vault of 3.50m. Cannon carries a 4.0 GPA as a Microbiology major.
Caulfield earns the first America East All-Academic honor of his career. He has been a member of the Commissioner's Honor Roll since his freshman year. The junior distance runner had a pair of top finishes last season and registered the Catamounts' top 3000m indoor time of the year at the America East Championships where he completed the run in 8:23.59. The Durham, New Hampshire native has accrued a 3.94 GPA as an English major.
All four members of the All-Academic Team will open the outdoor track & field season Saturday (Mar. 30) at UMass Lowell.
